Game summary
Dresden started strongly, but the Red Bulls didn't allow them many chances. Shortly after their first good opportunity through Maximilian Kastner, the visitors celebrated during a power play. Hager successfully deflected a shot from Ryan Murphy to make it 1-0 (7th minute). The Red Bulls played in a controlled and focused manner – and were clinical in front of goal. This resulted in two more goals before the first break. First, Hager scored his second goal of the game after some impressive work from Rio Kaiser (12th minute), which was the youngster's first DEL point. Gabriel Fontaine added a third goal before the break (19th minute). With Antoine Bibeau saving all of the Eislöwen's attempts at the other end, Munich took a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
After the break, the first highlight again belonged to the efficient Munich team: Abeltshauser made it 4-0 with a rebound (23rd minute). Oliver David's team then pushed for a fifth goal. Eislöwen goalie Jussi Olkinuora was under constant pressure, while Bibeau was rarely called into action at the other end. One exception was Drew LeBlanc's solo effort, which was saved by the Munich goalie (28th minute). In the final phase of the second period, the promoted team threw everything forward once again – with success: Lance Bouma reduced the deficit to 1-4 three seconds before the break.
At the start of the final period, both teams missed opportunities to add to their tally on the power play: first Munich with a two-man advantage, then Dresden with an extra player. The Red Bulls then concentrated on compact defense. Dresden pushed forward but hardly created any dangerous chances until the final phase. Dane Fox then scored on the power play for the bottom-of-the-table team, but his goal to make it 2-4 with nine seconds remaining came too late.

Konrad Abeltshauser: “The goals in the first period helped us. It was easier with the lead, but Dresden made it difficult for us. Nevertheless, we can be satisfied. We have now won ten of our last 13 games. We are climbing the table and our confidence is growing. It's fun this way.”
