The Red Bulls wish a happy new year
Thursday, 29. December 2022 | DEL: The great review of the year of EHC Red Bull München
The Red Bulls wish a happy new yearImpressive numbers from the year 2022// CURRENTThe year 2022 is slowly but surely drawing to a close. Before we say "Goodbye 2023!", let's take a brief look back.
It's incredible how quickly time has passed and what has happened in the last 365 days. You could easily fill an entire book with the stories from 2022. Joy and tears, hope and disappointment, highs and lows.
Normality again at last
The biggest highlight is definitely the return of normality. Finally, we can celebrate the greatest sport in the world with you in the Olympic Ice Stadium without any worries. That is anything but a matter of course. Because for a long time, including as recently as January 2022, the stands had to remain empty. All the better when you consider the total number of spectators: We welcomed over 135,000 fans to Oberwiesenfeld last year. Just under 85,000 came in the current edition-free season alone.
The numbers from 2022
The sporting record of our team can also be proudly presented: the Red Bulls picked up 57 victories from 80 competitive games in the PENNY DEL and the Champions League. That makes for a strong success rate of 71 percent. Only in our first championship year in 2016 did we win more - 75 percent of the games.
You were able to cheer even more often, because our guys put the disc in the net a total of 272 times (173 goals conceded). Don Jackson's team scored nine goals in its biggest victories on February 25 in Bietigheim (9-1) and on March 27 in front of its home crowd against Ingolstadt (9-1).
A surprising runner-up
The player with the most points in 2022 was our forward Austin Ortega, who scored 69 points (31 goals, 38 assists) in 74 games. In the CHL, Ortega & Co. made it all the way to the semifinals, and in the German Ice Hockey League, they even made it to the finals.
Incidentally, EHC Red Bull München also holds a commanding lead in the 2022 DEL main round table with 133 points. However, the closest rivals to Munich in the past calendar year were neither Berlin nor Adler Mannheim.
In second place, surprisingly, are the Straubing Tigers, who scored a total of 112 points in their 61 main round games in 2022.
We are ready for 2023
When you read all this, you can really only look forward to next year. For our Red Bulls, it starts on January 2 at 7:30 p.m. with the away game at Eisbären Berlin. Six days later, we can toast 2023 together against the Bietigheim Steelers (7:00 p.m.) at Oberwiesenfeld.
In this spirit, we wish all fans, partners and supporters a happy new year and a successful start to the new year.
