Gameplay

An even start, then Munich speed ice hockey. The Red Bulls annoyed Düsseldorf with a hard forecheck and played themselves tight in front of the visitors' goal several times. The top team had its best chances not during a period of pressure, but when shorthanded: Maximilian Kastner (11th) and Patrick Hager (12th), however, could not beat Henrik Haukeland. The DEG with clearly less game shares, but with a straightforward attack in the 19th minute, which Victor Svensson used for the lead.

In the middle period, the Red Bulls kept the pressure on Düsseldorf, with Philip Gogulla hitting the post in the 24th minute. The visitors continued to allow little - until a Munich power play in the 32nd minute: Parkes dusted off to make it 1:1. However, DEG remained dangerous and led again after Bernhard Ebner's goal (37th).

Munich wanted the quick equalizer and could rely on two of its most in-form players: Ortega netted after Yasin Ehliz had done the groundwork to make it 2:2 (43rd). But Düsseldorf had the perfect answer ready and took the lead for the third time through Daniel Fischbuch (44th). The Red Bulls increased the pressure in the following, but the next goal was scored by DEG: Mikko Kousa in overtime with the 4:2 (54.). Stephen Harper made everything clear with the empty-net goal for the 5:2 final score (59.).
