DEL Playoffs: EHC Red Bull München ahead of game 6 in the quarter-finals
The players took to the ice together with coach Don Jackson at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. A short but intensive training session of around 30 minutes was still on the agenda before the sixth quarter-final game against the Mannheim Adler on Friday evening (7:30 p.m.) in the SAP Garden. Fine-tuning details, simulating individual game situations – and resting.
Despite trailing 2-3 in the best-of-seven series – and Mannheim having the match puck – the team is determined not to lose their ease and enjoyment of the game. After the session, as always, some players stayed on the ice longer, warming up for Friday or playing a little game.
Hager calls for ruthless efficiency
“All the games were hard-fought. I think we had some very dominant phases, especially in five-on-five,” explains captain Patrick Hager. What needs to change is the goal scoring. Too many top-class chances have gone unused recently. ”Ultimately, we have to score the dirty goals in front of the goal. And then defend the lead consistently.”
Statements before game 6: What Hager, Blum and Smith have to say!

A fight with the cold-bloodedness on the one hand, and a well-positioned Arno Tiefensee in the Mannheim box on the other. “We've been playing very well lately, but their goalie made it very difficult for us,” says defenseman Jonathon Blum, who is also annoyed about the lack of luck at one point or another.
Smith sets the tone
On Friday, our number 24 is counting on a good start to the game. “We have to try to score the first goal. That can be a big factor at home – we want to get the fans right behind us,” says Blum. Taking advantage of the home crowd has long been a proven strategy in duels with Mannheim. On both sides.
“The challenge now is simply to win a home game,” summarizes Ben Smith, who is currently supporting the coaching staff as an injured player, confidently. And he sets a clear direction for players and fans: “Let's win the game!”
