DEL preview, match day 51: EHC Red Bull München welcomes the Straubing Tigers

Quarterfinal home advantage in sight, CHL in view: Red Bulls welcome Straubing for derby// DEL - PREVIEWEHC Red Bull München faces another heated derby in its final home game of the regular season. The Straubing Tigers will be visiting the sold-out SAP Garden on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. (live on our blog).
There is a lot at stake for both teams on the penultimate match day of the main round. The Red Bulls are currently in fourth place with 97 points. If we get at least one more point, we would secure a place in the top four and home advantage in the quarter-finals of the playoffs. This is because the fifth-placed team from Ingolstadt (91) would then have no chance of catching up with us.
But second or third place is also still possible. To achieve this, our boys would have to overtake Straubing (101 points) and/or Mannheim (100). The Tigers, on the other hand, could theoretically secure direct qualification for the Champions League on Friday. And from Munich's point of view, this must be prevented.

Restricted access to Parkharfe and parking information
We currently strongly recommend that all visitors to our home games use public transportation to get to and from the arena. Reason: Due to construction work on Landshuter Allee, there will be restrictions on traveling by car to SAP Garden and Parkharfe until further notice.
In addition, there will be another event taking place at the Olympic Park at the same time as the game against Straubing, which will further increase traffic at Parkharfe.
Guaranteed spectacle against Straubing
Ultimately, the league table on Friday evening is of secondary importance. For us, it will be a matter of fine-tuning the last tactical details shortly before the playoffs and boosting our confidence with a derby win. It would be our third against Straubing this season. It's worth noting that all of the games have been high-scoring, with a total of 25 goals in the three games. Munich scored 13 times, while the Lower Bavarians scored 12.
Most recently, we secured a 6-3 away win at the Pulverturm in early January. Our boys really turned it on with four goals in the final period. Among others, Gabriel Fontaine scored a goal that deserves to be included in any highlight video.

The most in-form team after the break
Our rivals from Gäubodenstadt are currently in impressive form. Straubing has now won nine games in a row and earned a full 27 points. Coach Craig Woodcroft's team went into the Olympic break at the end of January with three consecutive wins, and the Tigers have since added another six wins. Both their offense and defense have been working brilliantly in recent weeks.
Straubing has scored 23 goals in those six games, making them the most dangerous team in the DEL. Seven of those goals were scored by the Lower Bavarians on the power play – their 38.9 percent success rate is also the best in the league.
In addition, the two goalies, Henrik Haukeland and Florian Bugl, both of whom will remain in the Tigers' goal next season, have conceded only eleven goals. Only our team (nine) is even more stable.

US duo and Hede impress, sharpshooter Brandt
Nicholas Halloran in particular stands out once again from the balanced and deep Straubing lineup. The American winger has proven to be an absolute hit in his first DEL season and is clearly his team's top scorer with 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists).
The second-best scorer is his compatriot Tyler Madden with 19 goals in his first season in Europe. The two top forwards have already extended their contracts in Straubing. Together with the lightning-fast Elis Hede (18 goals), Halloran and Madden form the nominal top line.
On the blue line, Marcel Brandt is having a personal record season. The Straubing sharpshooter has already scored 16 times in the main round, more than ever before in his career. He also has 26 assists to his name. It goes without saying that Brandt is once again one of the most dangerous defenders in the league this year.
