DEL preview, match day 7: EHC Red Bull München welcomes the Grizzlys Wolfsburg
The first Wiesn home game last Sunday against the Iserlohn Roosters was already a success from Munich's point of view with a 3:1 win. The aim now is to build on this on the Day of German Unity in the clash with the team from Lower Saxony.
Highlights: EHC Red Bull München vs. Iserlohn Roosters (September 28, 2025)
// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
For the second and last time, our boys will be wearing specially designed Oktoberfest jerseys, and you can also expect a few very special treats: a band will play the right music in front of and inside the arena, and gingerbread hearts and beer vouchers will be handed out to fans in traditional costume. Before the game, you can look forward to a horse and brewery team in front of the E1 and E3 entrances.
During the intermission, the Hacker-Pschorr Plopp Challenge will take place on the ice, where you can win vouchers for the kiosks in the SAP Garden.
Important note: Due to a parallel event in the Olympiapark, we recommend traveling by public transport.
"Discipline and consistency"
Against Iserlohn, our team clearly dominated the game for long stretches and hardly allowed any shots on goal. Jeremy McKenna and Brady Ferguson then ensured a well-deserved home win in the final phase. "That's where we want to continue against Wolfsburg," says Veit Oswald, looking ahead to the game against the Grizzlies.
How is this supposed to work? "We need discipline and consistency in our play over 60 minutes again," demands our number 27. The Red Bulls then want to create their chances from a stable defense and then take advantage of them. Oswald himself has already achieved this three times this season. With three goals and three assists already, the youngster is one of the best U23 scorers in the PENNY DEL.

Grizzlys key players missing
However, the league's overall points list is led by a Wolfsburg player. Jimmy Lambert already has seven goals and eleven points, but the attacker will be out for weeks due to injury. The same applies to new forward Jacob Hayhurst, who is also injured and will have to sit out. However, Matt Choupani, who gained his first professional experience in North America last season, is available. The 23-year-old is apparently already finding his feet in Germany (four goals, three assists).
One of the new additions to the Grizzlies defense is a familiar face from Munich. Ethan Prow, who played a total of 28 games for us in the 2020/21 season, is now defending for Wolfsburg. The offensively strong defender has already made a brilliant impression with eight assists.
There have been no changes in goal, however, with Dustin Strahlmeier and Hannibal Weitzmann sharing the duties so far.

Wolfsburg with a strong start to the season
Thanks to good performances, the two goalkeepers are also partly responsible for the fact that coach Mike Stewart's team has only conceded 15 goals. Things are going even better in attack, with 28 goals being the top figure in the league. It is therefore not surprising that the Grizzlies have got off to a really strong start with four wins from their first six games. However, their last game was a 4-2 defeat at the Cologne Sharks.
"Wolfsburg are in good form and have had a very good start. They will come out aggressively, so we definitely have to be ready," Oswald makes clear.
In any case, the direct comparison speaks for itself: Munich have won the last eight games against Wolfsburg.
