EHC Red Bull München: Ice Rink at SAP Garden Ready for the New DEL Season
Every summer break, one of the major milestones on the road to hockey season is the return of ice to the SAP Garden. Our “living room” is now waiting for our guys to make their comeback.
How the Ice Rink Is Created
Ice preparation at the SAP Garden takes place in several precisely coordinated steps: First, the concrete surface is cooled down to minus 9 degrees over a period of about ten days, following a precise plan. Next, a base layer of ice about 5 millimeters thick is built up. This is followed by the white layer, which creates the typical bright ice surface. Then another 5 millimeters of ice is applied before the partner banners are inserted. Finally, a layer of ice about 2.5 centimeters thick is built up over the banners. This creates a stable and even ice surface that provides the best conditions for our guys.

On September 18, the time will finally come again. We’ll kick off the new 2026/27 DEL season with a home game against the Adler Mannheim. Tickets are already available for the season opener.
Tickets for Oktoberfest game days and three derbies are already available
The same goes for the following five league games in Munich. These include the two Oktoberfest game days against the Löwen Frankfurt on September 27—when, under perfect conditions, we’ll be reunited with Koni Abeltshauser—and against the Augsburger Panther (October 4).
Tickets are also already available for the subsequent derby against the ERC Ingolstadt (October 9), as well as the games against the Iserlohn Roosters (October 23) and the Nuremberg Ice Tigers (November 1).
Top-Notch Hockey Before the Season Starts at the Red Bulls Salute
If you don’t want to wait that long, you can, of course, also support the Red Bulls during our preseason. Among other events, the annual Red Bulls Salute will take place in Zell am See on August 21 and 22.
In the semifinals, we’ll face co-host EC Red Bull Salzburg—and in the final or third-place game, we’re sure to face another top European club: either EHC Biel-Bienne or HC Dynamo Pardubice. Tickets for the weekend are still available.
