EHC Red Bull München: Strong Stats Following the Win in Schwenningen

New records, a milestone achieved, and a commanding comeback// StoriesOn Sunday, the EHC Red Bull München secured its fourth win in its eighth game of the season. The Red Bulls defeated the Schwenninger Wild Wings 4-3 and currently sit in fourth place in the standings with 15 points.
Among other factors, fresh energy in the forward lines contributed to the success. Dominik Kahun replaced Lucas Thaler in a new lineup and, together with Taro Hirose and Tobias Rieder, formed what was arguably the most impressive line. The chemistry between Kahun and Hirose, in particular, worked exceptionally well.
On the goal that made it 4-1, Hirose set up his teammate with a spectacular one-two pass. With two goals, Kahun emerged as Munich’s standout offensive player and underscored that the Red Bulls can vary their lineups and successfully introduce new dynamics. After his two-goal performance, our No. 21 now has a total of five goals, making him the top scorer for the four-time German champions.

Ehliz Scores His 150th Goal for the Red Bulls
Yasin Ehliz reached a special milestone. The Red Bulls’ all-time leading scorer broke his scoring drought after a strong preseason and scored his first goal of the season—which also marked his 150th DEL goal while playing for EHC Red Bull München. Notably, the national team player is already our 15th different goal scorer in this still-young season—a league-high.

In addition, Ehliz contributed an assist. The 33-year-old also played on a reshuffled line, with Thaler at center in place of Kahun. Thaler once again impressed with his forechecking skills and, with a faceoff win percentage of 63.21 percent, is Munich’s best faceoff specialist so far this season.
Wagner Makes a Strong Comeback
Meanwhile, Fabio Wagner made his comeback against Schwenningen. After a 14-game suspension, the defenseman returned to the lineup and delivered a composed and confident performance alongside Lukas Klok. Wagner won 53.85 percent of his one-on-one battles against the Wild Wings.

Munich Leads the League in Power Play and Faceoffs
With eight power-play goals, the Red Bulls have scored the most goals on the power play in the league. Two of those goals came against Schwenningen during a five-minute power play. In addition, Munich is the league’s strongest team in one-on-one battles, with a 52.54 percent win rate.
The Red Bulls are also among the league leaders in offensive aggression: 282 shots on goal currently rank them second in the PENNY DEL—only Mannheim has more, with 295 shots. However, their conversion rate of 8.51 percent still offers room for improvement. With their 4-3 victory over Schwenningen, though, Munich has once again demonstrated that they can find their way to success in a variety of ways.
Crucial Matchups Against Berlin and Nuremberg
If the team continues to work on its consistency and eliminates fluctuations in form, we can set our sights even higher from fourth place. The upcoming games against defending champions Eisbären Berlin on Friday and the derby against third-place Nuremberg on Sunday are two direct opportunities to climb the standings.
