36 games in 92 days: The Red Bulls' two perennial contenders

36 games in 92 days: The Red Bulls' two perennial contenders// CURRENTAlmost half of the 2022/23 season is already history. Time to take a brief look back.
Our boys have played 26 games in the German Ice Hockey League, and eight duels were scheduled in the European top division. And for our national players, there were further encounters during the Deutschland Cup in November. Until the end of the main round on March 5, there are still 30 more matches to go before the hopefully very long playoffs.

As many as eight players in coach Don Jackson's squad have yet to miss a single second in the PENNY DEL. The two defensemen Ryan McKiernan and Maximilian Daubner as well as the six forwards Austin Ortega, Frederik Tiffels, Justin Schütz, Yasin Ehliz, Chris DeSousa and Maximilian Kastner have been on the ice in all league games. McKiernan is also the "busiest" on our team, averaging 19 minutes and 55 seconds of ice time per game. All eight professionals also played in all eight Champions League matches.
Extra shifts for Tiffels and Schütz
While the majority of the squad was able to take a few breaths during the short international break in November, the two "all-rounders" Tiffels and Schütz continued to have a tight program. They represented the Red Bulls at the Deutschland Cup in Krefeld. Both players played in two games for the DEB team.
The current line-up partners, both currently playing together with Ben Street, thus already come to 36 competitive games in just 92 days. In other words, our "frequent player" duo plays a must-win game every two and a half days!
"Winning is always fun"
With his important opening goal in the derby at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, Tiffels laid the foundation for what was already his eighth win in a row last Friday. The third goal of the season for the Marathon man. "The basis is a good summer training. And apart from that, of course, I try to drink a lot of water, sleep a lot and use the time you have free as sensibly as possible," reveals our endurance skater.

The strain on body and mind is high, so the current run of success comes at just the right time. "I'm doing great, both physically and mentally. In addition, the many victories make it easy for me. Winning is always fun," laughs our number 11. So far this season, Tiffels has shone above all as a provider.
20 of his 25 scorer points result from assists. "I'm quite satisfied. But I also know that I can go one better. I'll use the second half for that and try to play even better," he promises with a twinkle in his eye. I'd love to do that next Thursday in the tough away game in Wolfsburg.
