Yasin Ehliz scored twice in the 5:3 home win against Frankfurt and, with 129 goals, has now overtaken the previous leader, Trevor Parkes."It's something special to be Red Bull Münchens top goalscorer. I feel honored and it makes me proud," said Ehliz after reaching the milestone on Sunday. The 32-year-old then added: "But the most important thing is the success with the team. That's what pleases me the most." The attacker has also played his part in the latest success of seven wins in a row.

Against Frankfurt, the German international striker once again showed what makes him stand out as a goalscorer. In the fifth minute, he was in the right place after a rebound and opened the evening with his important 1:0 lead. The goal debut with Parkes.
But our number 42 hadn't had enough: as the Lions pressed in the final third, Ehliz made it 5:2 with an individual effort. He won the puck in the forecheck and didn't hesitate for long in front of the opposing box. The sold-out SAP Garden was on the edge of its seat and cheered its new, sole scoring king.
Ehliz: "Look for the quick finish"
After his 129th DEL goal, our record goalscorer explained his formula for success. "You don't often get into the perfect shooting position. I'd be annoyed if I wasted the shot. That's why I try not to think too long and not to try out too much. I look for the quick finish to surprise the goalkeeper," explained Ehliz. He continued: "I did that well with the second goal today."
Not a born goal scorer
Ehliz is an all-rounder who never shies away from a duel and always has an eye for his teammate. He wasn't born with the goal-scoring gene, he had to work for it. "I used to be more of a passer. But in recent years I've found my scoring instinct. I think I have a bit of everything," says the Bad Tölz native.
And at the top level. The numbers back this up. Over the course of his career, Ehliz has constantly increased his own goal tally. For his former club Nürnberg Ice Tigers he scored in almost every fourth game (0.24 goals per game), for the Red Bulls he is successful in every third game (0.35 goals per game).

Ehliz only two DEL goals behind Hager
Ehliz has scored 222 goals in his 757 DEL games to date. Only four players active in the DEL have scored more often. One of them is his teammate Patrick Hager, who is two goals ahead of him. If Ehliz keeps scoring like this, he could soon overtake his captain. For him personally, it would be a side note, as wins with the Red Bulls are more important to him. Coach Don Jackson's team will have their next chance on Wednesday (7:30 pm) in the Bavarian duel at Ehliz' former club Nürnberg Ice Tigers.
