Historic double pack: How Ehliz found out about his special milestone
Monday, 27. November 2023 | EHC Red Bull Munich: Yasin Ehliz overtakes Wolf in the list of top scorers
Historic double pack: How Ehliz found out about his special milestone// NEWSIt seemed only a matter of time before Yasin Ehliz would climb to second place in the Red Bulls' all-time DEL goalscoring list. On Sunday in the prestigious duel against Mannheim, the time had finally come.
With his goals 104 and 105, he overtook our former captain Michael Wolf. "It feels really good," said Ehliz after the 5:1 victory.
104 in four seconds
It was the 18th minute in the top game against the Eagles. The "Player of the Year" first blocked a shot, then put the disc in front of himself and skated alone towards the opposing goal before leaving Adler goalie Felix Brückmann no chance with a well-placed shot.

Defensive action, switching momentum and a cool finish - within four seconds, Ehliz showed all his qualities. It was goal number 104 in a Munich shirt. The Bad Tölz-born striker thus drew level with club legend Wolf.
Neck-and-neck race with Parkes
He even overtook him around 17 minutes later. Goal 105 was less spectacular than number 104, but no less significant. "A goal is a goal. Every goal is important," emphasized teammate Trevor Parkes several times. The two-time DEL top scorer should know. Only "Parkesy" (117 goals) has scored more often for the Red Bulls in the German Ice Hockey League. Both are now in a neck-and-neck race for the crown in the internal scoring list.

"Heard it over the announcement in the stadium"
But first of all, Ehliz was delighted to be mentioned in the same breath as Wolf. "Everyone in the league knows Michi Wolf because he has scored so many and such incredible goals," said Ehliz in an interview with MagentaSport on the ice, while he was celebrated by the fans with chants.
He learned about the historic extent of his brace during the game: "I heard it from the announcement in the stadium." Ehliz has scored a total of 198 DEL goals in his career to date - only 23 players have scored more often.
The next anniversary could therefore be celebrated soon, as Ehliz has finally shaken off the injury he was still struggling with at the start of the season. He harmonizes splendidly with his teammates Ben Smith and Austin Ortega and is increasingly hitting top form. He had already scored twice in Schwenningen. Four goals in the last three DEL games speak for themselves.

Ehliz ahead of Parkes in the scoring stats
And when Ehliz is fit, he produces points like on an assembly line. 229 in 290 DEL games for Munich, to be precise. In this statistic, he is even just ahead of Parkes, who has 228 points (293 games) to his name.
Bremerhaven comes on Friday
Here, too, the two goal scorers are neck-and-neck. However, Ehliz is now looking ahead to EHC Red Bull Munich's next game. On Friday (December 1 | 7:30 p.m.), Toni Söderholm's team will host second-placed Pinguins Bremerhaven at the Olympia-Eisstadion (get your tickets now).
The internal duel between Ehliz and Parkes will then enter the next round. But the three points are even more important to both of them than their personal record.
