World Championship: Phillip Sinn, Fabio Wagner, and Maximilian Kastner Compete
The annual Ice Hockey World Championship will take place in Zurich and Fribourg from May 15 to 31. The German national team will kick off the tournament on May 15 at 4:20 p.m. against Finland. Other opponents in Group A include Latvia, Switzerland, the United States, Hungary, Austria, and Great Britain.
First World Championship appearance for Sinn: “A childhood dream comes true”
For our defenseman Sinn, this is his first time participating in a World Championship. The 22-year-old expressed his joy at being named to the roster. “I’m incredibly happy to be able to be part of this year’s tournament. For me, this is an absolute childhood dream come true,” Sinn said happily. Wagner is participating in the World Championship for the sixth time, as is forward Kastner.
Kreis on the squad selection: “Over four preparation phases, the team has grown together and continued to develop from week to week. That’s why the decisions weren’t easy for us. We’re convinced that we’ve now optimally filled the roles on the team for the World Championship. We’re now looking ahead and will prepare optimally in Zurich for the tournament’s start on Friday.”
Thaler on Austria’s World Championship roster
In addition to our three German players, another Red Bulls pro, newcomer Lucas Thaler, will be competing at the World Championship. The 24-year-old forward was named to the final roster of the Austrian national team and will face his new teammates and the DEB squad on May 23 (8:20 p.m.).
