The 27-year-old already played 21 games for the Red Bulls last season and won the German championship with them in April last year. Toni Söderholm, Trainer EHC Red Bull München: „Nach dem bitteren Saisonaus für Dominik Bittner und der mehrwöchigen Verletzungspause von Adam Almquist fehlen uns längerfristig zwei Verteidiger. Um für den letzten Push breit genug aufgestellt zu sein, mussten wir reagieren - und das haben wir. Emil ist ein läuferisch starker Spieler, der mit seinen Fähigkeiten sehr gut in diese Liga passt. Wir haben bereits vergangene Saison gesehen, wie schnell er seine spielerische Identität in der DEL durchsetzen konnte. Er wird auch durch sein aktives Aufbauspiel und seine Energie weiterhelfen.“

Johansson most recently in Finland
Most recently, Johansson played for the eleven-time Finnish champions HC TPS Turku in the Finnish "Liiga". The 1.82 meter tall and 87 kilogram Swede made his debut in the top German ice hockey league shortly after his first signing on February 19 last year against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
As he had already signed a contract with TPS for the 2023/24 season before moving to the state capital, Johansson left the Red Bulls for Finland after winning the title. Just under a year later, he is now back in the Munich jersey.
Returning player gets his old number
With Johansson, who has already arrived in Munich, the Red Bulls have issued their tenth foreigner's license. The defenseman will return to the four-time German champions with the number 57.
EHC Red Bull Munich's next game is on January 26. It will be against the Cologne Sharks in front of a home crowd at 7:30 pm in the sold-out Olympic Ice Stadium.
