The 29-year-old is a real leader and the longest-serving forward in Don Jackson's lineup.When Kastner put on the jersey of EHC Red Bull München for the first time on December 18, 2014, in the game against the Hamburg Freezers, he was officially still under contract with SC Riessersee in the DEL2. The then 21-year-old was convincing - and so the loan became a permanent commitment for the 2015/16 season.
Kastner helps to score a big coup
Kastner ushered in a successful era in the Bavarian capital: He celebrated the championship with the Red Bulls at the very first attempt and went on to win two more titles in the following seasons.
Almost eight years to the day after his debut, Kastner has 387 DEL games (73 goals, 107 assists) - all for Munich! That makes him the third most games in the Red Bulls' club history.
The slope tester from Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Even though it almost seems like it by now, Munich is not his home. Our #93 was born and raised in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. So the mountains are anything but new territory for him. "They are my home," says Kastner, who likes to spend his time hiking or skiing.
Recently, on a day off from training, Kastner headed to Zell am See-Kaprun in Austria to put the slopes (and a local restaurant) at our new tourism partner's ski resort through their paces. Even before he got to see the breathtaking views from the summit, Kastner was already beaming. "Finally, skiing again!"
