Hager: "It was only a matter of time"
"Not much needs to be said about Yasin: he's Player of the Year and an incredibly important part of our team," says captain Patrick Hager. The fact that Ehliz has now hit triple digits doesn't surprise him: "It was only a matter of time before Yasin cracked that 100-goal mark." It took the Bad Tölzer 282 games to reach the milestone. If Hager has his way, it won't stop there: "I hope Yasin will stay with us for a long time and score well over 100 goals for the club."
Wolf the legend, Parkes the top scorer and the number 42
Only two Munich players have reached the hundred mark before our number 42. Club legend Michael Wolf was the first to break the mark. In 2019, the ex-captain ended his career after scoring 104 goals for the Red Bulls.
If Ehliz stays healthy, he will soon pass his former teammate. Catching up with Trevor Parkes could be more difficult. "Parkesy" stands at 113 goals, making him our current record scorer. And the two-time DEL top scorer isn't thinking about letting up in front of goal.
Race for the crown
Incidentally, Parkes, like Ehliz, moved to Munich in 2018. A few months ago, both celebrated their first German championship. This season, they want to add the second title. And at the same time, they are engaged in a duel in the Red Bulls' perennial scoring charts. Ehliz has one advantage over his Canadian teammate. He is one and a half years younger.
