Game summary
The Red Bulls switched into high gear right from the start and capitalized on their first power play: Gabriel Fontaine passed into the slot, and Ehliz finished off the impressive combination to make it 1-0 (2nd minute). However, the Ice Tigers responded promptly through Owen Headrick (4th). After the 1-1, Charlie Gerard even had the chance to put the visitors ahead (7th) before Munich took control. The four-time German champions created more chances, but Niklas Treutle in the visitors' goal was not beaten a second time before the first break. The teams went into the locker room with the score at 1-1.
The first scene in the second period belonged to Nuremberg's Tyler Spezia, who narrowly missed after a quick transition (22nd). Then the Red Bulls stepped up the pace. Their dominance was rewarded with two goals in 61 seconds: First, Murphy restored the lead (32nd), then Eisenschmid made it 3-1 shortly afterwards (33rd). In between, Philipp Krening had a great chance, but Treutle made a spectacular save. Munich kept up the pressure, but the fourth goal did not come before the second intermission.
In the final period, the Red Bulls controlled the game with confidence, and goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger was hardly challenged – yet he was wide awake against Brett Murray after a counterattack by the Ice Tigers (49th minute). In the final stages, the visitors threw everything forward once again, but even with a sixth field player (from 57th minute) they were unable to close the gap. Instead, Ehliz scored an empty-net goal at the other end to make it 4-1 (59th minute) – completing his brace.

Yasin Ehliz: “I've missed a few chances this season, so the two goals today feel really good, of course. We wanted to show a reaction at home after the game in Bremerhaven – and we managed to do that with this win.”
