Our defensemen Maximilian Kastner and Fabio Wagner, along with the forward trio of Yasin Ehliz, Veit Oswald, and Tobias Rieder, will travel to Düsseldorf with the German national team next week. The 2026 Deutschland Cup at the PSD Bank Dome kicks off preparations for the home World Championship, which will take place from May 13 to 30 in Düsseldorf and Mannheim.
Rankel: “Getting to Know Each Other and Establishing Structures”
National team coach André Rankel: “After many weeks of discussions and preparations, I’m glad that I can finally get started with the team and the staff. In Düsseldorf, we want to get to know each other during this training camp and establish the structures we’ll be working with in the coming months. The fact that our first game together in front of a home crowd will take place at the Deutschland Cup makes this week special for all of us.”
For Rankel, who was introduced as the new national team coach at the SAP Garden on August 27, these will be his first games as head coach behind the bench for the DEB team. Germany will face Austria, Latvia, and Slovakia.

In Thursday’s (November 5) matchup against Austria, the Munich-based DEB quintet will face off against Lucas Thaler. Our forward, a key pillar of the Austrian national team, has also been named to the Deutschland Cup roster.
MagentaSport will broadcast all six tournament games live and free of charge. Tickets for the entire weekend are also still available online.
