Match report
It took just over four minutes for the Red Bulls to give their fans something to cheer about for the first time: comeback kid Rieder scored on the rebound to make it 1-0 (5th minute). Dresden attacked courageously in the aftermath, but it was the hosts who created the clearer chances. Because Munich goalie Antoine Bibeau and his counterpart Juho Olkinuora were strong, there were no further goals before the break.
Both teams continued to play offensively in the second period. Munich were again more dangerous – and more successful: after a successful forecheck by Jeremy McKenna and a wonderful pass from Brady Ferguson, Daubner made it 2-0 (29th minute). The Red Bulls took this deserved lead into the second intermission.
In the final period, the four-time German champions kept the visitors from Saxony at bay for the most part and increased their lead to 3-0 in the 48th minute after an impressive combination by Pokka. Shortly thereafter, the Eislöwen scored to make it 1-3 when Tomáš Andres found the net (51st minute). Olkinuora left the ice with 2:40 minutes remaining. Dresden attacked with six players, but immediately received a two-minute penalty. The match ended without any further goals after a heated final few seconds, giving Munich their fourth victory in four games against the Eislöwen this season.

Tobias Rieder: “My goal gave me wings—you couldn't ask for a better start to the game. Dresden put us under pressure at the beginning, but from the second period onwards, we kept the game simple and had fewer turnovers against us. And then we have players in the team who have great combinations in their blood.”
