// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Game summary
The Red Bulls initially kept Schwenningen away from their own goal and created promising opportunities themselves through Yasin Ehliz (4th) and Maximilian Kastner (6th). The Wild Wings then showed their offensive qualities, but Mathias Niederberger did not concede a goal in the first period. His counterpart Joacim Eriksson was beaten for the first time in the 19th minute when McKenna fired the puck under the crossbar to make it 1-0 on the power play (19th). Munich took a narrow lead into the break.
After the intermission, Schwenningen dominated the action. The Red Bulls came under pressure and suddenly found themselves 1-2 down after Mirko Höfflin scored twice in quick succession (24th, 25th). Niederberger then prevented the deficit from increasing on several occasions. The German national goalkeeper was on hand to deny Tyson Spink, among others (29th). Eriksson had to intervene much less frequently in the middle period. The Swede had his best moment shortly before the end of the period against Tobias Rieder.
Early in the final period, Höfflin missed a huge chance to score his third goal while shorthanded (44th). The four-time German champions then found their way back into the game. During a period of sustained pressure, Ryan Murphy had a dangerous shot (49th), but Schwenningen survived these minutes and then struck coldly: Spink made it 3-1 on a power play (50th). Munich tried everything again after that, but failed to score, hitting the post (53rd) and being denied by Eriksson. Coach Oliver David brought in an extra attacker with four and a half minutes remaining. Patrick Hager had another great chance on a power play (59th), but the score remained unchanged.
