// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Game summary
From the first puck drop, both teams brought pace and intensity to the ice. However, clear chances were few and far between at first, as the defensive lines were very alert. The Eagles had their first success immediately after a dangerous Munich power play: Brendan O'Donnell slammed the puck into the corner to make it 1-0 (8th minute). Munich goalie Antoine Bibeau then made several brilliant saves to ensure that Mannheim retained their narrow lead at the break.
After the break, the sold-out SAP Arena saw the Red Bulls come out strong, posing the greater threat in front of goal for long stretches of the second period. But Bibeau also had to show his skills time and again in response to Mannheim's attacks. However, there were no goals until the 40th minute, with the score remaining 1-0 to the Adler at the second intermission.
In the final period, Munich initially successfully defended against the hosts' third power play and then successfully switched back to attack mode: Rieder ran alone towards the strong Adler goalkeeper Maximilian Franzreb after a pass from Dillon Heatherington and confidently converted to equalize (44th minute). Shortly afterwards, Ferguson turned the game around with a counterattack goal to make it 2-1 (48th minute). As if that weren't enough, Ehliz increased the lead to 3-1 in the 50th minute after winning the puck again. In the 53rd minute, Mannheim brought in a sixth field player for the goalkeeper and scored the tying goal through Matthias Plachta (56th) in a six-on-four power play. And in the 59th minute, Kris Bennett scored the equalizer for the Adler.
With the score at 3-3, the game went into overtime. This ended goalless, and the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout. Brendan O'Donnell secured the extra point for Mannheim.

Tobias Rieder: “That was an awesome hockey game, it went back and forth. Of course, it's a shame that we gave up our 3-1 lead and lost in the shootout. It's always a heated battle against Mannheim.”
