Gameplay
Offensive and determined from the first puck drop - the Red Bulls started the match very well. Berlin held their own and even set the pace at times. Both teams, however, only had a few clear chances, because especially the defensive departments shone. Speed, body and discipline - in the fourth duel of the season between last year's finalists, everything was there. Only goals were not scored. 0:0 after the first 20 minutes.
Start of the second period with 4-on-4. 44 seconds later, another penalty for Berlin and an overtime for Munich. With consequences: Three Berlin players and Juho Markkanen had no chance in the 22nd minute when Redmond took a shot. 1:0 for the Red Bulls, who continued to hold the pressure. Just under six minutes later, Schütz increased the lead to 2:0, but the champions fought back: Kevin Clark brought the Eisbären back to within one goal (29th). The temperature rose steadily, and in the last minute of the period things got really hot: first Jonas Müller scored 36 seconds before the siren to make it 2:2, twelve seconds later Ehliz made it 3:2 for the Red Bulls.
In the final period, the guests initially acted more gripping than the Eisbären. Munich concentrated defensively, and went forward with pinpricks. From minute 50 onwards, Berlin dared to go more offensive, but Red Bull München withstood the increasing pressure, kept the opponent well away from their own goal - and scored: DeSousa increased the lead to 4:2 in the 57th minute. The decision. Clark's 3:4 three seconds before the end did nothing to change the Munich success.

"The Eisbären played very well and compactly. We had to try everything and scored the goals at the right times. That helped us to a very important victory. Because we were not satisfied with our last games, we wanted to do a lot of things better and we succeeded."
