Course of the game
The first period clearly went to Munich. The Red Bulls created numerous good chances, but Jonas Stettmer was the last man standing. The Eisbären goalie prevented his team from falling behind until the 17th minute. Then Chris DeSousa had a brilliant idea: the forward played a pass through his legs to McKenna, who scored without fuss to make it 1:0 - his tenth goal of the season in the DEL. At the other end, Simon Wolf was hardly challenged for a long time. The Munich goalkeeper produced his best act just seconds before the first break. So it remained 1:0 after 20 minutes.
The Polar Bears stepped up their game considerably after the break. The visitors played faster and more aggressively and the Red Bulls came under increasing pressure. However, the four-time German champions defended consistently, especially in the slot. Liam Kirk was able to break through once, but Wolf reacted strongly (28'). Four minutes later, there was another direct duel - this time the Eisbären striker gave the Munich goalie no chance and scored to make it 1:1. After that, Oliver David's team got back into the game better, but Berlin continued to be more compelling. Shortly before the second break, Lean Bergmann turned the game around with his goal to make it 1:2 (38').
The two teams neutralized each other in the final period, with little happening in front of goal at first. However, a great chance for Adam Brooks (46'), who finished in the Berlin slot, marked the start of a good phase for the Red Bulls. However, the goal came out of nowhere at the other end: Les Lancaster made it 1:3 after a face-off (50'). Munich's offense was now challenged. It became really dangerous in a power play in which McKenna hit the post (54'). Berlin did not concede much after that. However, when coach Oliver David brought on the extra attacker, Ferguson made it 2:3 (60'). Munich threw everything forward again in the remaining 40 seconds, but the equalizer was not scored. In the end, the Polar Bears won 3:2 away from home.

Jeremy McKenna:
"We set the tone in the first period, then they made adjustments. At the end of the day, it was a close hockey game that was decided by one goal. It's not easy right now with the injuries, but everyone is doing their best. Simon Wolf played a great game and kept us in the game. We'll be ready again on Friday in Straubing."
