DEL preview, match day 12: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Dresdner Eislöwen

Premiere at SAP Garden: Red Bulls face Dresdner Eislöwen in DEL for the first time// DEL - PREVIEWAfter four consecutive away games, EHC Red Bull München returns to its home turf – with a premiere: On Sunday (7:00 p.m.), the four-time German champions will face the Dresdner Eislöwen for the first time in the PENNY DEL (live on our blog).
The game against Dresden isn't the only premiere on Sunday. You asked for it, now it's here: the 0.5-liter mug is coming to SAP Garden and will be available at the kiosks during all home games in the arena starting Sunday. Tickets for the game are still available.
For those who want to stay longer, the after-game deal at Henry's offers an attractive opportunity. Hacker-Pschorr beer and Red Bull will be available at a special price until 90 minutes after the end of the game.
Red Bulls want victory on their return to the SAP Garden
After Friday's 1-2 overtime defeat in Frankfurt, the Red Bulls want to show a reaction at the SAP Garden – with a victory against Dresden. The last competitive match between the two teams was a long time ago. Munich won 4-1 in the DEL2 15 years ago. A lot has happened since then: our team has won the German championship four times, Dresden initially remained in the second division – and was promoted to the PENNY DEL after winning the DEL2 title in 2025.

Big unknowns with familiar faces
The current Dresden team is a big unknown for our boys – despite some familiar faces. Emil Johansson, Austin Ortega, and Trevor Parkes all previously played for Munich and now lead the Eislöwen scoring charts: defenseman Johansson is in the lead with nine points, followed by Ortega with eight and Parkes with seven. Niklas Postel also has a Munich past. Even these players were unable to prevent Dresden's weak start to the season with only one win in eleven games.
On Thursday, Dresden suffered its eighth defeat in a row, losing 2-4 to Cologne. The Saxons still have to get used to the pace in Germany's top league. Yet they have plenty of DEL experience and even NHL experience. Five players have played in the top North American league, including defenseman Justin Braun (who came from Straubing), who has an impressive 961 NHL games under his belt.
Hudacek not yet a factor
Julius Hudacek is in goal. Last season, he led the Cologne Sharks to the runner-up spot, but Hudacek's save percentage is currently 86.9 percent – well below his level last season. This is one of the reasons why the promoted team is at the bottom of the table after eleven match days.
Important information before the game: Due to several parallel events, the parking lot will probably be very busy. Therefore, if possible, travel by public transportation.
