DEL preview, match day 22: EHC Red Bull München welcomes the Straubing Tigers
The Red Bulls were already challenged in a derby on Sunday. Coach Oliver David's team impressively accomplished the task at Augsburg's Curt Frenzel Stadium. Munich won decisively 8-3, securing their fifth victory in the last six games and rounding off a six-point weekend that began with a 3-1 win in Berlin on Friday.

Straubing, on the other hand, has suffered two defeats recently. The Lower Bavarians lost 1-4 in Schwenningen and 2-4 at home against Eisbären Berlin. Nevertheless, the Tigers currently lead the PENNY DEL with 45 points.
With a win in the direct duel, the Red Bulls (38 points) want to close the gap on Straubing and catch up with the top four in the league. There are currently a few tickets left for the game. With our Black Week “Deal of the Day” on Monday, you can even get single tickets for just 15 euros.

Note to all visitors to SAP Gardens on Tuesday evening: Due to a parallel event in the Olympic Park, we recommend traveling by public transportation, as the parking garage will be exceptionally busy.
Heading into the derby with confidence
Our boys want to pick up where they left off in recent games against Straubing. In addition to a compact defense—we have conceded only nine goals in the last six games—the offense was also in top form in Augsburg.

This meant that players such as Max Daubner and Philipp Krening, who have not appeared on the scoresheet very often this season, also got on the scoresheet. “After having so many chances in recent games, I'm really happy that it finally went in. I hope it continues like this,” said Krening after the game.
With four dangerous offensive lines, a stable defense, and a lot of confidence, the team is now aiming for its sixth consecutive home win in the upcoming derby against Straubing.
A mix of technique and speed
Another tough test awaits us, as the Tigers are the best team in the league so far with 15 wins from their first 21 games. The league leaders play extremely fast and technically strong hockey.
With 82 goals, head coach Craig Woodcroft's team has the second-best offense behind Ingolstadt (94), and the defense (only 54 goals against) is also working well. In other words, the team has the right balance.

High quality offense and defense
Henrik Haukeland, a former Munich player, is in goal. The Norwegian consistently delivers good performances and has already recorded three shutouts. In addition, the Tigers have Marcel Brandt, the league's most dangerous defender, who already has 23 points (ten goals, 13 assists).
A few days ago, manager Jason Dunham struck again on the transfer market, bringing Ryan Merkley, a defenseman with NHL experience, to the Gäubodenstadt.
Straubing has plenty of speed in attack. A prime example of this is American Nick Halloran, who has already scored ten goals (ten assists). Dangerous German players such as Elis Hede (ten goals, seven assists) and Filip Varejcka (twelve points), whom we know from his time with the Red Bulls, round off the offensive line-up.
In the first derby of the season on September 21, the Tigers prevailed 6-2. On Tuesday evening, however, the Red Bulls want to respond and continue their winning streak.
