DEL preview, match day 28: Red Bull Munich welcomes the Nuremberg Ice Tigers
EHC Red Bull Munich's winning streak continued last Wednesday against the Kölner Haie. In a real top-of-the-table clash between two evenly matched teams, Brady Ferguson scored the decisive goal in overtime to make it 2-1, securing the eighth (!) home win in a row at the SAP Garden, which was sold out for the fifth time in a row and has become a real fortress.
Munich now has 52 points, closing the gap on third-placed Cologne (54 points), with Ingolstadt and Mannheim also within striking distance.
“We are where we want to be”
Maxi Kastner was also among the goal scorers against the Rhinelanders. The national team player has now scored in two consecutive games, once again deflecting a shot from the blue line. But it's not just our attacker who is on a roll at the moment, but also his teammates.

"We are now playing with more confidence than at the start of the season, everyone has arrived. We also had to give the new players some time to settle in. We first had to come together. Now we're all where we want to be," said our number 93 after the win against the Sharks.
Opponent analysis on the screen
After a training-free Thursday, our boys started their preparations for the game against Nuremberg on Friday. Kastner himself wants to watch the other games of the 27th matchday on TV in the evening. So it's a good thing that the forward particularly enjoys watching the Ice Tigers' games. That's because one of his best friends - defenseman Marcus Weber - plays there.
It also gives him a chance to analyze our upcoming opponent, Löwen Frankfurt, for himself. However, we already know the Central Franconians well from the first two meetings this season. In the first encounter, the Red Bulls won 3:2, while in the second we came out on top at home with a 4:1 victory.
Parking information
Note to all visitors to the SAP Garden: Due to a parallel event in the Olympiapark, we recommend traveling by public transport, as the Parkharfe is at above-average capacity.
Pre-Christmas atmosphere thanks to the Munich Boys' Choir
In addition to the rather heated atmosphere on the ice, next Sunday's game against the Franconians will be another festive occasion in the SAP Garden. As in previous years, we will be welcoming the Munich Boys' Choir at the end of the game. They will perform the classics "O Tannenbaum" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" - after which everyone is invited to join in with what is probably the most traditional Christmas carol: "Silent Night".

Around 40 young singers will be on the ice with the Red Bulls players. The ensemble will be accompanied by a pianist. This creates a great atmosphere – especially for families. They can also save money on Sunday: a discounted price applies for up to two adults with at least one child under the age of 14.
New signing Akdag, key player Maier back on board
It is not yet clear which line-up the Ice Tigers will take with them to the Bavarian capital on Sunday. The personnel situation remains tense due to injuries. One thing is certain: defender Constantin Braun (end of season) will definitely be out. A few days ago, manager Stefan Ustorf signed Sinan Akdag, an experienced defenseman who is on course for 1,000 DEL games, as a replacement.
Will Graber will definitely be missing in attack. However, Cole Maier, who was sidelined for almost seven weeks, returned to the Nuremberg offense at the beginning of December as an absolute key player. Forward Roman Kechter is also back in the lineup, among others.

“A very combative team”
But even with so many players out, the Ice Tigers, who are still very much in the race for the pre-playoffs, showed that they are a tough opponent. Coach Mitch O'Keefe's team has won many games in recent weeks despite a decimated squad, with most of the other games being close. The three forwards Evan Barratt, Brett Murray, and Tyler Spezia were particularly impressive, and former Munich goalkeeper Niklas Treutle also put in a strong performance.
“They have a very competitive team. You have to praise them for how they throw themselves into every game,” emphasized Kastner. “But we have a lot of momentum right now that is carrying us forward.” So we want to add the next three points to our tally on Sunday.
