DEL preview, match day 50: EHC Red Bull Munich welcomes Löwen Frankfurt

Unfinished business: Red Bulls await Löwen Frankfurt on SundayRestricted access to the parking lot// DEL - PREVIEWSecond home game this weekend: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Löwen Frankfurt to a sold-out SAP Garden on Sunday afternoon. The game starts at 2:00 p.m. (live on our blog).
What a special evening in our living room! Friday was all about our first championship title in the PENNY DEL ten years ago against Wolfsburg. And it was those very same Grizzlys who sent the current Red Bulls back to Lower Saxony with a 4-1 home win—in front of some of the heroes from back then. Among others, David Leggio, Jason Jaffray, Michael Wolf, Mads Christensen, and Franky Mauer were guests. It was great to have you there!

Our upcoming opponent from Frankfurt, on the other hand, only managed to secure one point. The Lions lost 4-5 to the Iserlohn Roosters at home after overtime.
Restricted access to the parking lot and parking information
We currently strongly recommend that all visitors to our home games use public transportation to get to and from the arena. Reason: Due to construction work on Landshuter Allee, there will be restrictions on traveling by car to the SAP Garden and the Parkharfe until further notice.
In addition, there will be another event at the Olympic Park at the same time as the game against Frankfurt, which will further increase traffic at the Parkharfe.
Red Bulls want revenge
The Hessians last visited us in Munich at Christmas last year – and beat the Red Bulls 3-1. That ended our strong run of eight wins and ten home wins in a row. So we still have a score to settle with the Lions. But above all, only points count for us in the race for second place in the table and thus direct qualification for the Champions League.
We showed how it should be done against Frankfurt at the beginning of December. Back then, after 60 flawless minutes, we secured a commanding 5-0 away win on the Main. We'd like to see a repeat of that!

Lions without pressure
For the Lions, the remaining three games of the main round are basically just about ending the season on a high note. The thirteenth-placed team has already secured its place in the league, and tenth place and the first playoff round are no longer mathematically possible. Nevertheless, the Hessian camp will breathe a sigh of relief overall.
Because the numbers speak for themselves. Only the team that was relegated on sporting grounds and the bottom-of-the-table team from Dresden had fewer wins, scored fewer goals, and conceded more goals. But: Most recently, they earned a point in the derby in Mannheim (3-4 after overtime) and won at home against Bremerhaven (4-1) and Wolfsburg (3-2 after overtime).
Three departures on the Main
Nevertheless, the clean-up of the squad has already begun, with several players leaving in recent weeks. Goalkeeper Dustin Tokarski left the club after a short time and disappointing performances to join HK Olimpija Ljubljana, and long-time defender and captain Reid McNeill (also Ljubljana) has also already departed. Forward Jakob Lilja transferred to EV Zug during the Olympic break.

Cameron Brace is still on board, having once again proven his scoring prowess this season with 19 goals. Forward Linus Fröberg, who has often been used as a defenseman, also stands out with 34 points (9 goals, 25 assists). Forward Ty Glover also returns to the lineup after a two-game suspension.
