DEL preview, match day 15: EHC Red Bull München visits Wolfsburg

Visiting the Autostadt: Red Bulls aim to continue their winning streak in Wolfsburg// DEL - PREVIEWThe Red Bulls have found their rhythm. Our boys have celebrated three wins recently – the next one is set to follow on Tuesday in the away game against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. (live on MagentaSport, in HENRY, and on our blog).
The team is currently brimming with confidence. That wasn't always the case in the first few weeks of the season. “We weren't happy with the start of the season, of course. We wanted to change that – and we did,” said defenseman Ryan Murphy after Sunday's 5-4 win against Schwenningen. But at first, there was little to suggest that Munich would secure their third win in a row.
Red Bulls with a new mindset
After the first period, our boys were trailing 1-3. “At the start of the season, we might not have won the game. But now we stay positive in situations like this. In the locker room, we only thought about the next 40 minutes and not about what didn't go well in the first period,” Murphy continued. It was the sixth game in a row in which the Red Bulls scored points.
Murphy's first goal a relief
Murphy himself had another reason to celebrate: the 32-year-old Canadian scored his first goal in a Red Bulls jersey. “The goal felt good, of course. I would have liked it to come sooner, but I just had to wait a little longer,” said Murphy, who spoke of “relief.” Now he is hoping for more goals – and more wins, preferably as early as Tuesday.

Strong record, but...
The latest results in Wolfsburg give cause for hope, as our boys have been successful there four times in a row. Overall, the Red Bulls have won eight of the last nine games. In the most recent encounter three and a half weeks ago, however, Wolfsburg prevailed 7-5 at SAP Garden.
Grizzlys slump after victory in Munich
After this game on matchday 7, the Grizzlys were second in the table with 15 points. However, this was followed by five defeats in a row. It was not until Friday against Iserlohn (3-1) that coach Mike Stewart's team stopped the negative trend.
On Sunday, however, there was another bitter setback in Straubing: Wolfsburg lost 6-0, suffering their heaviest defeat of the season.
It was not so much down to forward Tyler Gaudet and defender Ethan Prow. The duo has scored six points in seven games since the first match of the season in Munich. Hannibal Weitzmann started four times in goal and had slightly better statistics (save percentage: 88.4 percent) than Dustin Strahlmeier (88.0 percent) in his three appearances.
Red Bulls enjoying their game
The Red Bulls' upward trend is also evident in their scoring. Taro Hirose has scored ten points in the last seven games, Chris DeSousa nine and Tobias Rieder eight – including five goals. Our boys are clearly enjoying their game.

DeSousa is likely to be particularly looking forward to the clash with his former club – he has scored an impressive 16 goals in 21 games against Wolfsburg. Since the start of last season, he has even scored five goals in five games. And he doesn't intend to stop there. The Red Bulls' winning streak is also set to continue – at least if Murphy has his way: “It's a lot of fun right now. We want to keep it up.”
