Former NHL pro Dominik Kahun returns to Munich“I feel proud and incredibly excited”// STAFFThe EHC Red Bull München is bolstering its roster with a familiar face: Dominik Kahun is returning to the Red Bulls after eight years.
The 30-year-old national team player is transferring from the Swiss top-division club Lausanne HC to Munich and will once again wear his former jersey number 21. Kahun previously played for EHC Red Bull Munich from 2014 to 2018, winning the German championship three times in a row during that period. In a total of 206 DEL games for the Red Bulls, the technically skilled left-handed shooter racked up 149 points (48 goals | 101 assists) before making the leap to the NHL.
Christian Winkler, Managing Director of Sports at Red Bull Ice Hockey: “We, the entire Red Bull organization, are incredibly excited about Dominik’s return. We’ve stayed in touch over the years, and Dominik has always referred to the Red Bulls as ‘home.’ When the opportunity arose to bring Dominik back at the peak of his hockey career, we pulled out all the stops to make it happen. It took a lot of patience, but both sides made it clear from the start that they were absolutely committed to making it happen. His goals and our goals—to succeed as a team—have never changed. His skill, speed, and experience will help the entire team.”

I feel proud and incredibly excited to be back here and to be able to play in Munich. I already get goosebumps when I think about my first game in this new arena and stepping onto the ice in front of the fans again. I have big goals with the club, and I think I speak for the whole team when I say: I want to lift a trophy here again.”

Following his success in Munich, Kahun joined the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018, moving to the world’s top hockey league. There, he played all 82 regular-season games in his rookie season and subsequently played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Edmonton Oilers. In total, the forward has 188 NHL games and 83 points to his credit.
In 2021, Kahun joined SC Bern in the Swiss National League (NL).
