EHC Red Bull München: Mathias Niederberger out with injury
The national goalkeeper suffered a lower body injury in the penultimate PENNY DEL game against German champions Eisbären Berlin. Munich won the game 3-1.
After thorough examinations last weekend and an MRI scan yesterday, Monday, the diagnosis was confirmed. The 32-year-old will be out of action for several weeks.
Niederberger was injured in the game against his former club and was unable to finish the match.
The Düsseldorf native has been under contract in Munich since 2022 and has played 163 league games for the Red Bulls since then. In total, the two-time “Goaltender of the Year” has played 474 DEL games, with a save percentage of 91.8 percent and 39 shutouts. He has also been a regular for the German national team in recent years.
