EHC Red Bull München: Rio Kaiser Sidelined Due to Injury
The 20-year-old sustained a lower-body injury last Sunday while playing on loan for SC Riessersee against Deggendorfer SC. Following thorough medical examinations throughout the week, it has been determined that Kaiser will not be able to return to action until early next year at the earliest.
Niederberger, DeSousa, Kahun, and Krening are also out with injuries
In addition to Kaiser, Munich coach Oliver David is still without goaltender Mathias Niederberger (lower body)—who is also not expected to return until early 2027 at the earliest—as well as forwards Chris DeSousa (upper body), Dominik Kahun (lower body), and Philipp Krening (lower body). While Kahun will be available again after the Deutschland Cup break at the earliest, Krening is expected to return immediately after the international break on November 13.
Kaiser joined the Red Bulls in the summer of 2025. In his first season, the defenseman played in 15 DEL games (14 regular-season games, one playoff game) and recorded one assist. Prior to that, the left-handed shooter had already made ten DEL appearances for the Eisbären Berlin. In total, Kaiser has played 25 games in Germany’s top league so far.
