EHC Red Bull München: Sinn, Schreiner, Kaiser & Bittner gain playing experience
The PENNY DEL will be on hold until February 25. While the national team, which includes three Munich players, Mathias Niederberger, Fabio Wagner, and Tobias Rieder, is competing for a medal at the world's biggest sporting event, the German upper house is taking a break.
For four of our guys, however, everyday league life will continue “as normal.” At least in terms of timing. Thanks to promotional licenses, four of our players will continue to compete on the ice in the coming weeks.
Munich trio on the ice in Kaufbeuren
Three players from the Red Bulls squad will be playing for ESV Kaufbeuren in the coming weeks. In addition to Vadim Schreiner (four appearances) and Rio Kaiser, who already has 30 appearances this season for the second division club, Phillip Sinn will also be playing.

The Munich Trio in Kaufbeuren
The 22-year-old, who turned 22 in mid-January, is already an important defensive pillar in Oliver David's team. There is a clear reason why he, as a regular player for EHC Red Bull Munich, is not taking a well-deserved break, but prefers to continue playing in the DEL2.
Sinn wants to get back into the rhythm of the game
"I decided this because of my recent injury. I was out for almost a month in total. The coach then gave me the option of playing in Kaufbeuren, and I immediately said ‘yes,’“ explains Sinn, adding: ”I think it's a good idea: I get a lot of ice time and get back into a proper playing rhythm. When the league resumes, I'll be in shape."
Our number 43 already made his first two appearances at the weekend. More are set to follow this coming weekend. “There's no exact schedule yet. I'll play the next two games and then probably come back to Munich when training starts.”
Bittner with plenty of ice time in Bad Tölz
In addition to the Kaufbeuren trio, a Red Bulls development player is currently in Bad Tölz. Matthias Bittner is currently alternating in goal for the ambitious Oberliga team with Enrico Salvarani.
“The coach decides who plays based on the opponent and his gut feeling. The cooperation with Bad Tölz is great. I get to play a lot, they want to promote me, and it's easy to combine with Munich because of the proximity. The Lions are a great club and things are going really well on the ice right now, which makes it even more fun,” reports Bittner.

Matthias Bittner
First shutout and strong save percentage
The 21-year-old has also played a significant role in the sporting success of the third-placed team. Most recently, Bittner achieved a 30-save shutout in the 4-0 victory against Memmingen. “That was my first shutout this season – I was obviously very happy,” explains the goalie with a grin.
With a strong save percentage of 91.5 percent in 21 appearances, Bittner is one of the top goalies in the league. The 21-year-old has now settled in well and found a great balance. "Munich is and remains my main club, and I continue to train here twice a week. But I also feel at home in Bad Tölz. I play a lot, feel very integrated, and this is also my team. I don't feel like a loan player."
