EHC Red Bull München: Reactions & Stats from Quarterfinal Game 1 vs. Ingolstadt
Quotes:
Oliver David (Coach, EHC Red Bull München): “We started off well, but conceding that goal set us back a bit. The start of the second period—with three goals against in five minutes and several penalty kills—decided the game. We didn’t play with as much determination as we’re capable of. Still, we had enough chances to win. The positive thing is that we never threw in the towel when the score was 0-4, 2-5, or 3-6. In the end, we were just one shot away from overtime. Now it’s 0-1, but it’s a best-of-seven series—and we want to even the series on Friday in Ingolstadt.”
Veit Oswald (forward, EHC Red Bull München): “We basically scored some of our own goals and took too many penalties in the second period. We can play better, and yet we still only lost by one goal in the end. That should give us a boost. Ingolstadt plays hard, but we’ll stand our ground. We have the players to do it. If we play our best hockey, we’ll beat Ingolstadt. We’re going into Game 2 with a ‘now more than ever’ mentality.”
Maximilian Kastner (Forward, EHC Red Bull München): “Ingolstadt’s first goals were a bit lucky. And we made a few too many mistakes. But you could also see that we never give up and that you have to reckon with us at all times. We want to carry the momentum from the comeback into Friday’s game. We want to play physically again, get under the opponent’s skin, and show our spirit.”

// DEL - INTERVIEW
Mark French (Coach, ERC Ingolstadt): “The first goal was important. Especially on the road, after we failed to score in either of our regular-season games here. That gave us confidence. Munich is a strong offensive team and managed to come back again. But in the playoffs, it’s all about winning. We managed to do that. The series heated up quickly. We’ll continue on Friday, and it’s sure to be intense again.”
Leon Hüttl (Defenseman, ERC Ingolstadt): “In the end, we made it a little too close for comfort. Overall, though, it was a good road game. The start was important; we scored the first goal and played hard—that’s exactly how we wanted to play. We scored our goals at the right moments. On Friday, we start again at 0-0.”
