Parkes makes history: How the archrival became a club legendCanadian scores his 105th DEL goal for Munich// DEL - CURRENTEHC Red Bull München has a new record goal scorer. His name is Trevor Parkes. The Canadian forward has immortalized himself in our club's history books with his goal to make it 1-1 at the away game in Bremerhaven.
But first, let's turn back a few pages. It's Thursday, April 26, 2018, the all-important seventh game in the dramatic final series against the Eisbären Berlin. The Red Bulls win and celebrate their third championship in a row in front of their home crowd. Six days after the big coup, the next one follows with the signing of a certain Park. A 26-year-old forward from our arch-rivals from Augsburg, who cracked the 20-goal mark in each of his first two seasons in the German Ice Hockey League.
To the top in no time at all
In his DEL debut in a Munich jersey on September 14, 2018, in Berlin, Parkes contributed an assist, followed directly by two more against Straubing. He scored his first goal in the third game - against his former club from the Fuggerstadt, of all places.
1651 days have passed since the Canadian's debut. In that time, MagentaSport commentators have shouted "hit Parkes" countless times! 105 times, to be exact. With his goal for the interim equalizer in Game 4 at the Pinguins Bremerhaven, Parkes has replaced our club legend Michael Wolf as the Red Bulls' record goal scorer.
"It's a great feeling to have reached this milestone. When you pass Michi Wolf, you know it must be something special. He was an incredible player, a real leader. I'm so glad I got to play with him," Parkes says. "This record is something I'll definitely look back on in a few years and be proud of."

Heir to Wolf's throne
Wolf needed 307 games for his 104 DEL goals as a Munich player, Parkes set his record after just 256 games - and took the sole record three days later in the next game. That makes it even more impressive than it already is.
"Records are there to be broken," says the dethroned Wolf. "Anyway, I don't begrudge him, Trevor is a super guy, after all we played together for one more season. He always gives everything, sacrifices himself for the team and goes where it hurts," raves our former captain of Parkesy.
Living for the pain
The 6-foot-3, 97-pound striker sets up his office in front of the opponent's box. When Parkes spreads himself out there, things get uncomfortable. It ignites a fierce battle for every inch: Punches in the back, rude shoves, the odd exchange of words. Professional everyday life for our number 84.
From this situation, "I'm sure I'll rarely score a goal that makes it into the annual review for its beauty. But I'm prepared to accept every conceivable pain for a goal," says the now 31-year-old. Incidentally, he has earned the nickname "garbage man" because of his many tap-in goals. His record-breaking goal, on the other hand, was a feast for the eyes - see for yourself!

"The born goal scorer"
The combination of hard work and a primal instinct. That's Parkes' formula for success. "Parkesy is a born goal scorer. It's a talent to read the rebounds like that and always be in the right place. In the area around the goal, there are not many forwards in the DEL who are better than him," says captain Patrick Hager in praise of his teammate. It almost seems as if Parkes has a sixth sense: a nose for goal.

The crown on his head
Parkes has scored more than 20 (!) goals for the Red Bulls in three of the four seasons he has played in the German Ice Hockey League. Twice, the right-shooter was even crowned top scorer. The main round of the 2019/20 season ended with 28 goals, in the following season it was 23 goals.
Parkes also delivered on the international stage: he was top scorer and MVP of the season with nine goals when we reached the 2019 Champions League final.
The list of personal successes is long. What the Canadian is still missing, however, is a title with the Red Bulls. This would be his next entry in the history books of Munich ice hockey.
