One million visitors: SAP Garden celebrates major milestone
It has been less than a year and a half since SAP Garden opened its doors for the first time at its grand opening on September 27, 2024. The new Munich landmark was completely sold out for the game between the Red Bulls and the Buffalo Sabres – how could it be otherwise?
To date, there have been 44 more games by the four-time German ice hockey champions, 34 basketball games by FC Bayern Munich, and 21 other sporting events. That makes a total of 100 events in front of over 1,000,000 spectators. SAP Garden has established itself in Munich and has become a place of pilgrimage for sports enthusiasts.
A special gift for our one millionth spectator
With XXX spectators at our home games, we account for almost half of the visitors since opening. We have already sold out five times this season. If you add the games against Augsburg (December 30), Mannheim (January 4), and Berlin (January 6), that makes eight games in front of 10,796 spectators.
The millionth spectator was celebrated in style: we waited eagerly at the entrance and surprised the fan not only with confetti cannons, but also gave XY an upgrade to the exclusive VIP area in our stadium.
With around XXX spectators at our 45th home game, we certainly have nothing to hide when it comes to statistics. Almost half of all visitors since opening can be attributed to our club. A big thank you for that!
Versatile living room welcomes Munich residents
In addition to our boys, the FC Bayern basketball players also contribute to the local popularity of the SAP Garden. Our co-residents have already announced XXX visitors to their games – plus XXX spectators at various sporting events such as the Beckenbauer Cup, Red Bull League Of Its Own, MMA Oktagon, the UEFA Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament, and the ProSieben Celebrity Padel World Cup.
The approximately 180,000 visitors who have taken to the ice on the three additional ice rinks in the recreational sports area since the opening add to the impressive total of one million.
Special events are still to come
And our stadium remains a place of pilgrimage for sports enthusiasts around Munich. The SAP Garden will soon host the Fight Night Championship (February 6), the BBL Cup TOP FOUR (February 21), the second appearance of the Harlem Globetrotters (May 2), and the Women's and Men's Handball Super Cup (August 22) as fixed events in the coming year.
Another highlight is the preliminary round of the 2027 Handball World Cup the following year, when the German team will compete at SAP Garden. And we promise: it certainly won't stop there. Here's to the next million – and many games in front of packed stands for our Red Bulls.
