Medical tests: Everything you need to know about the examinations before starting trainingProcedure and special features// CURRENTWith preparations for the new 2025/26 season underway, the first dates and commitments for our Red Bulls are now set. At the top of the list: medical examinations.On August 9 (11:00 a.m.), the entire team will take part in its first joint and public ice training session in the already sold-out Training Hall 1 at SAP Gardens. Until then, all players will undergo the necessary medical examinations, which will take four days for each player. A distinction is made between medical tests and performance diagnostics.
While the medical tests are mandatory for all players in order to obtain a license, the performance diagnostics serve to determine and evaluate the players' current physical performance. Subsequently, individual training plans are determined and progress is monitored in order to minimize the risk of injury.

Examinations take place in Munich and Liefering
The orthopedic examinations were already carried out in Munich by our team doctors and took about half an hour for each player. These include muscle function tests, joint tests, and analysis of the musculoskeletal system. Medical history is also taken into account, especially if a player has already had problems with a joint.
Since the beginning of the week, cardiological examinations have been carried out at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy on the Bavarian-Austrian border in Liefering, including a resting ECG, a stress ECG, and a heart echo. The entire procedure takes about two and a half hours.
A two-day performance diagnostics program is also on the agenda there. Performance diagnostics includes endurance diagnostics in the form of lactate threshold tests. This is followed by strength diagnostics, which includes jump power diagnostics, maximum strength diagnostics, and diagnostics for injury prevention.
All examinations for all players will be completed by August 8, one day before the first joint training session.
