Record attendance rate in the PENNY DEL – MagentaSport also sets new record
“An attendance rate of more than 93 percent is, of course, an incredible figure that we and, above all, our clubs can be very proud of,” said Gernot Tripcke, managing director of PENNY DEL, at a press conference. “It is an incentive for us to maintain this level, but at the same time it is difficult to increase it even further. But that is, of course, a luxury problem.”
After 52 match days and 364 games, the total attendance figure of 2.74 million this coming Sunday will be just slightly below last season's record (2.83 million). However, this development was already foreseeable before the start of the season, given the significantly smaller arena of promoted Dresdner Eislöwen (4,412 seats) compared to the average attendance of relegated Düsseldorfer EG (9,104).
Thanks to the excellent utilization of their arenas, the 14 clubs are expected to be able to reduce the gap to less than 90,000 visitors. According to current figures, an average of 7,557 spectators attended each game, compared to 7,781 last year. The highest figure was achieved by the Kölner Haie, who had already secured victory in the main round and once again set a European record with an average attendance of 18,112.
17 sold-out home games for the Red Bulls at SAP Garden
We too can celebrate a new attendance record. In our first season in our new home, we set a new record with 264,573 fans, and now, after 26 DEL home games, 17 of which were sold out, the total attendance stands at 268,545. This means that our average attendance has risen from 10,176 to 10,329 spectators per game, with a total capacity utilization of 96 percent – three percent above the league average.

MagentaSport also has reason to celebrate at the end of the main round. As Stefan Thelen, who is responsible for sports content at Deutsche Telekom, announced, the long-standing TV partner of the PENNY DEL set another record in the tenth year of the cooperation: a total of 25.2 million people will have watched the PENNY DEL main round games live on MagentaSport. This represents an increase of 21 percent compared to last season (20.8 million). Free-TV partner DF1 also welcomed more than 1.25 million viewers to its 22 broadcasts to date. The average of almost 57,000 viewers per game represents an increase of 37.8 percent compared to the same period in the 2024/25 main round.
