SAP Garden Opening: Red Bull Munich welcomes the Buffalo SabresTicket sales start on May 7 | Tickets at redbullmuenchen.de// SAP GardenThe opening opponent has been announced: On September 27, Red Bull Munich will face the National Hockey League’s Buffalo Sabres at 8:30 p.m. in the then-completed SAP Garden. The game will take place as part of the grand opening weekend from September 27 to 29 in the new home arena of the four-time German ice hockey champions.

"We always strive for the best and the NHL is of course the best league in the world. It really is great for everyone to be able to inaugurate our wonderful SAP Garden against the Buffalo Sabres. This game will be a unique goosebump moment for our players, our organization and all spectators that we will all remember for a long time to come," says Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull ice hockey.
The game between the Red Bulls and the Sabres is part of the “2024 NHL Global Series Challenge Germany presented by Fastenal”. The official pre-sale for this match starts on May 7. Tickets and VIP hospitality packages will then be available on the Red Bulls website (www.redbullmuenchen.de). Season ticket holders of the Munich DEL club have a right of first pick on their seats.
One day after the match, all visitors can get a first, lasting impression of the new multifunctional sports arena in Munich's Olympiapark. During the day visitors can look forward to a variety of shows that document the diversity of uses of SAP Gardens. On Sunday (September 29), FC Bayern Basketball will celebrate its debut in the SAP Garden.

The NHL will be visiting the Bavarian capital for the second time in its history. In 1990, the Edmonton Oilers visited Munich and won 8:4 against EC Hedos Munich. 34 years later, the Buffalo Sabres will follow. This will be Red Bull München's first encounter with a team from the premier ice hockey league in the world.
For one Sabres player, there could be a spectacular reunion in September. Sabres forward JJ Peterka will be returning to his birthplace when the Sabres visit Munich to face off against his former team. The 22-year-old learned to skate in the Munich junior team and honed his talent at the Red Bull ice hockey academy and matured into a top prospect in the professional teams of Red Bull Salzburg and Red Bull München. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres organization in 2020 and made his NHL debut in 2021.
