// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Course of the game
From the first face-off, the top-of-the-table game offered fast and hard-fought ice hockey. The DEL clubs from Upper Bavaria looked to go on the offensive, but the defensive lines did not allow much at first. In the seventh minute, Hirose forced ERC goalie Brett Brochu to make his first good save. At the other end, a shot by Sam Ruopp was saved by the crossbar for Munich (12'). The duel now continued to gather pace - and when both teams were on the ice with four players each, the first goals were scored: Hirose put the Red Bulls ahead with a well-placed wrist shot (14th). Shortly afterwards, Riley Barber scored the equalizer from a free position (17), meaning the teams went into the first break tied at 1:1.
The middle period was in no way inferior to the first period. Myles Powell hit the crossbar again right at the start. The Red Bulls continued to be challenged in defense and then struck coldly during a relief attack: DeSousa scored to make it 2:1 for the four-time German champions (26'). Ingolstadt responded with a lot of pressure, but Antoine Bibeau's strong performance was the final straw. Then things got curious: First Abbott Girduckis made it a perfect three-goal haul for Ingolstadt (32'), the Red Bulls cleared the follow-up shot with their combined strength before DeSousa made it 3:1 on the direct counter-attack (33'). There was no further goal before the second break - despite good opportunities on both sides.
The Red Bulls defended consistently in the final period without neglecting their offense. The home side remained without a dangerous shot for a long time and ran out of time. Ingolstadt threw everything forward once more in the final period. ERC coach Mark French brought on the extra attacker for the first time in a power play (57'), but Bibeau and his front men withstood the pressure - and secured a 3:1 win for the Red Bulls in the top game.

Fabio Wagner: "It was an even game between two very strong teams. We knew that the Panthers would start strongly and we had the necessary luck on the glass in one or two situations. But we took our chances and finished the game well after taking the lead. We're currently playing brilliantly as a team. Now we're looking forward to the short Christmas break."
