EHC Red Bull München: Fabio Wagner with historic figures

“Ironman” Wagner: The symbol of our defensive stability// CURRENTFabio Wagner has been synonymous with consistency and reliability for more than just this season. The 30-year-old defender for EHC Red Bull München has achieved an impressive milestone this season: 332 consecutive DEL games.
This puts Wagner in the league's history books – only former defender Patrick Köppchen surpasses him with 506 consecutive appearances without missing a game. For the defender himself, however, there is no great secret behind this achievement: "I think there are several factors at play. The biggest factor is probably that I've always been very lucky that no serious injury has thrown me off track."
How the “model athlete” stays injury-free
However, this impressive number is by no means a coincidence. Wagner lives up to the title of “model athlete” given to him by Christian Winkler when he signed in the summer. “I think I always take good care of my body and do a lot of extra things besides ice hockey. Whether it's training in the gym or nutrition, it's all to prevent injuries.”

Wagner's impressive statistics
After eleven years with ERC Ingolstadt, five of them as captain, the national player is a key component in the defensive stability of coach Oliver David's team this season. After 28 games, the Red Bulls have conceded only 71 goals – the second-best record in the entire league.
Wagner is not only a reliable defender, but also a leader on the ice who has proven himself to be a team player. With 27 blocked shots, he shares the best record in this category on the team with Konrad Abeltshauser.
Commitment to the limit – and sometimes beyond
With ice time of 503:23 minutes, Wagner is not only one of Munich's most consistent performers, but also one of their most enduring. Only Ville Pokka has more ice time, with 562:27 minutes.
Wagner is not always just a defensive anchor: with two goals and three assists, the defensive specialist has already made it onto the scoresheet five times. This also contributes to a strong plus-minus balance of +19 goals with the 30-year-old on the ice.
Fabio Wagner
Our assistant captain is also a role model for the younger players on the team, such as his defensive colleagues Phillip Sinn and Rio Kaiser. "I've gritted my teeth a few times," Wagner reflects on his 332 consecutive appearances, but also assures: "I only play if I can help the team at least 95 percent. Otherwise, it's more important to me that we win as a team, not just that I focus on myself."
Team Success in Focus
The team's current winning streak is a constant source of motivation. "I have the pleasure of playing with a very good team here, and things are going well for them right now. And when things are going well, you automatically have even more fun."

He emphasizes that team cohesion is crucial, especially during difficult times: "But we also have those times when things aren't going so well, but we still stick together as a team."
Wagner's 333 against the Schwenninger Wild Wings
Wagner's impressive streak of 332 consecutive games, his defensive prowess, and his dedication on and off the ice currently make our "Ironman" one of the symbolic figures representing our stability and current success in Munich. We intend to maintain this momentum for his upcoming milestone game at our home game against the Schwenninger Wild Wings (December 18th | 7:30 pm) on our "White Christmas" game day.
