Nikolaus Heigl talks about the victory against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers
That's how Klausi Heigl imagined the third Sunday of Advent. In the seventh minute, our youngster was in front of the Nuremberg goal and pushed the puck over the line to give us an important lead in the derby. This was his first goal in his 15th appearance this season, and he has already collected three assists.
Pure joy for Heigl
“That feels really good, of course,” said the Bad Tölz native after our ninth home win in a row. “Now I just have to make sure I score more goals and break the deadlock,” emphasized the young forward. And he almost did it again against the Ice Tigers, but the post prevented his first DEL double.
But it wasn't just Heigl himself who was delighted with his personal success. His teammates were also particularly happy for him. “They support me incredibly well. Two or three games ago, I blocked two shots, which sometimes feels like it's celebrated more than a goal,” he revealed.
A little teasing makes it even more fun
And the 22-year-old had another reason to be happy: he finally got the better of his twin brother Thomas. Thomas also used to play for the Red Bulls, but has been wearing the Nürnberg jersey for two years now.

Even though the twins have a very close relationship, a little teasing beforehand was of course inevitable. The day before the match, Klausi asked his brother how nervous he was. And the message clearly had an effect.
“Beating my brother tastes twice as good, of course. It's always fun to win, but when you can tease him a little bit, it's even more fun,” beamed our number 15. “But ultimately, it's a normal win like any other, so you can't read too much into it,” Heigl added.
“I've worked hard for it”
In any case, with his strong performances, the forward is currently an important factor in the Red Bulls' current run of success. After spending most of this season gaining playing experience for ESV Kaufbeuren in the DEL2 on a development license, Heigl has established himself in the Red Bulls' lineup alongside captain Patrick Hager in recent weeks.
“It was difficult for me at the beginning because I didn't play that much in Munich. But I worked hard to get more ice time,” he said. “I just have to continue to establish myself and show what I can do. It always depends on what you make of it yourself. Even when things aren't going well, you have to stick with it and believe in yourself.”

When he will next be deployed in Kaufbeuren is currently unclear. “That's always decided at short notice. But normally I always know the day before so that I can prepare myself,” explained Heigl.
Extra praise from the coach
But at the moment, it looks like his permanent place is in Munich for now. “He's been on the right track for three or four weeks now when he's in our line-up,” praised coach Oliver David.
"He played very well. We had the idea that he should go in front of goal, and he did that. His goal put a smile on his face, which was nice,“ emphasized our head coach after the victory against Nuremberg. ”But it was even cooler for him that everyone was happy for him and congratulated him right away. The guys see that he's doing exactly what we need." That's what real team spirit looks like.

“White Christmas” party at SAP Garden against Schwenningen
And that's exactly what the Red Bulls want to prove again this Thursday in their home game against the Schwenninger Wild Wings. And to celebrate, we're throwing a “White Christmas” party at SAP Garden on the last home game day before Christmas. We want to color our living room.
That means you: Get your white jerseys and scarves out of the closet, put on white shirts, caps, or hats. Together, we want to create a unique image in all the arena stands. In addition, our team will be playing in white away jerseys for the first time in Munich.
