DEL: EHC Red Bull München as guests of the Nürnberg Ice Tigers
In the first three comparisons this season, the visiting team always came off the ice as the winner. The Central Franconians won both games at Oberwiesenfeld, while our team triumphed 4:1 in Nuremberg at the beginning of December last year. If the series continues in the same way, we'll take the points with us on Sunday. That's exactly the goal, but in our club's 750th DEL game, the Ice Tigers, who are in great shape, will be waiting for Patrick Hager and Co.

Patience and hard work rewarded in the end
Friday's hard-fought home win against Wolfsburg (2:1 n. V.) should give the Red Bulls an additional boost for the upcoming derby. With some spectacular saves, Grizzlies goalie Dustin Strahlmeier thwarted a series of Munich's best chances until the 59th minute. But: Coach Don Jackson's boys remained patient, which paid off in the end.
Ben Street (59th) evened the score before Justin Schütz (64th) scored the winning goal in overtime. "We played really well and had 58 shots on goal at the end," Jonathon Blum summed up. "We knew we could come back against this team." With a sixth outfielder on the ice, the league leaders turned things around.

"It's pretty nerve-wracking when the gate is empty. We've been in that situation a lot lately. We don't want that, but it's a good practice in the regular season," added our defender. After all, this scenario could also happen in the playoffs.
In the thick of things thanks to a winning streak
The Nürnberg Ice Tigers also want to get into the final round. And thanks to a really strong last few weeks, the ninth-placed team in the table currently has a good chance of making the playoffs with a points average of 1.469. Coach Tom Rowe's team has won five of its last seven games, and the last three games have all been won.

The Ice Tigers have been undefeated in their own arena for four games, and have only lost two home games in the current calendar year. On Friday night, Nuremberg managed a 5:4 victory after overtime in Iserlohn. Two very important points at a direct competitor in the race for 10th place.
Will the special teams make the difference?
Daniel Schmölz was once again responsible for the extra point in the Sauerland. No wonder, after all the attacker is the internal top scorer with 18 goals and second best scorer behind Gregor MacLeod with 37 points. The Canadian has 43 points (14 goals, 29 assists).
The Nuremberg power play is not getting going at all. Only 19 overtime goals mean a success rate of 15.45 percent - the lowest in the German Ice Hockey League. The shorthanded game is not much better with 71.70 percent. Only Bietigheim is even more susceptible.
It is therefore quite possible that the special teams will once again play a decisive role on Sunday. In two out of three games, the Red Bulls scored a power play goal. Keep it up!
