An unfamiliar role
Last Wednesday, the Red Bulls were defeated by the Dusseldorf EC with 2:5 - it was only the eighth defeat in the 34th game of this DEL season. "We played too complicated. That was simply not enough," Abeltshauser stated after the game.
And coach Don Jackson added: "We were practically just behind. The decisive factor was that they responded directly to our 2:2. The whole game was a catch-up game." Against Wolfsburg, the Red Bulls want to get back into the role of the hunted.
Wolfsburg with historic success
The Grizzlys Wolfsburg know this role all too well. The Lower Saxons have been in the lead for 43.4 percent of the game this season - the longest after Munich (50.8 percent).
The fifth-place team in the standings also comes to the Bavarian capital with a decent tailwind: On Wednesday, the Grizzlys dispatched second-place ERC Ingolstadt 9-1, setting a club record for their highest DEL win.

Four-point games and shutouts
Against Ingolstadt, Wolfsburg's two top scorers Darren Archibald (34 points) and captain Spencer Machacek (33) shone with four points each. The defense was also strong, as it has been recently. Goalkeepers Dustin Strahlmeier (two shutouts) and Justin Pogge have conceded just six goals in the past four games.
In the last duel between Munich and Wolfsburg, however, offense was the trump card: the Red Bulls won 6-5 on penalties against the Grizzlys after a crazy comeback.
