Das dritte Halbfinalspiel bei den Adler Mannheim in Bildern (12.04.2026) - HF3
Game Summary
There was no feeling-out period: Both teams came out strong right from the start, with the offensive lines showcasing their quality early on. The same was true for the goalies, who were wide awake. Munich’s netminder Antoine Bibeau stopped a breakaway by Anthony Greco, preventing his team from falling behind (5th minute). On the other end, Nikolaus Heigl and Alberts Smits forced Adler goalie Franzreb into some fine saves (8th/11th). The visitors were solid defensively in the first period, but Mannheim remained dangerous. Shortly before the break, Justin Schütz found himself alone in front of the net, but Bibeau was once again on hand (18th). Thus, the first period remained full of chances but scoreless.
After the break, Mannheim initially gained the upper hand. The Adler created chances both while shorthanded (from the 24th minute) and on the power play (from the 31st minute), but Bibeau remained unbeatable. In the 31st minute, the crossbar came to the Munich goalie’s rescue after a shot by John Gilmour. After that, the Red Bulls fought their way back into the game, and now a goal seemed imminent for the other side. Brady Ferguson also hit the crossbar (35th), and Taro Hirose narrowly missed during a period of pressure (37th)—but the Eagles had the last word in the second period: Justin Schütz deflected the puck just seconds before the buzzer to make it 1-0 for the hosts.
The Munich team responded confidently to the deficit: Ehliz scored on a rebound, firing the puck straight into the corner to tie the game at 1-1 (42nd minute). The four-time German champions kept up the pressure, but Mannheim weathered the storm without conceding another goal, only to strike back with clinical precision. Schütz restored the Eagles’ lead after a turnover in Munich’s build-up play (52nd minute). The hosts allowed little thereafter. Thus, the narrow lead held until the final stages. With two minutes remaining, Oliver David brought in an extra attacker—to no avail, as Mannheim sealed the deal shortly after: Anthony Greco and Tom Kühnhackl scored two empty-net goals in the 59th minute to make the final score 4-1.
