Kastner's anniversary: over 400 games in the service of the team// DEL - CURRENTLast weekend, Maximilian Kastner played his 400th game in the German Ice Hockey League. The Straubing Tigers spoiled the anniversary for our forward, but the joy was not completely taken away from him."Of course I had wished for a win on this special day, but for me personally it's still a nice number," said Kastner after the game at the Pulverturm. His 401 games in the meantime are a real house number - every single one of them, mind you, for EHC Red Bull München.
This puts the national striker in third place in our club's eternal ranking. Only Daryl "Mr. Munich" Boyle (currently 487) and Yannic Seidenberg (477) have more on their record.

Feels like home
It's hard to imagine Munich without Kastner. It almost seems as if the Bavarian capital is his home. But the 30-year-old was born and raised in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Kastner made his debut for the Red Bulls on December 18, 2014, in the game against the Hamburg Freezers. Just over eight years - and three championships - later, the next milestone has been reached.
Important role in Don Jackson's system
Our #93 has already recorded 21 goal contributions (8 goals | 13 assists) this season, which means a solid ninth place on the internal forward leaderboard for the classic role player.
Captain Patrick Hager explains how important Kastner is for the team's success: "Unfortunately, we talk far too often about those who work magic and score, but not about the guys who deliver hard and fantastic work. These players are far too rarely in the public eye. Kasti is a very good example. No matter where he plays, he makes a difference in the ranks."
Kastner selbst gefällt sich in seiner Rolle. „Ich spiele gerne sehr hart, bin viel in der Defensive unterwegs und blocke die Schüsse“, beschreibt der Linksschütze seinen Spielstil. Der 30-Jährige weiß es zu schätzen, dass man „bei uns in der Mannschaft genauso wertgeschätzt wird, wenn man viel defensive Arbeit leistet.“
22 aktiv geblockte Schüsse stehen für Kastner zu Buche. Der dienstälteste Stürmer im Aufgebot von Don Jackson sammelt eben nicht nur Spiele, sondern auch blaue Flecken.
