// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Game Summary
Aggressive in the forecheck and driving hard toward the net—the Red Bulls kicked off Game 2 with high-energy hockey. ERC goalie Brett Brochu was in the spotlight early on, but kept the visitors at bay during their initial surge, denying big chances from Rieder and Adam Brooks (both in the 1st minute). As Ingolstadt found its footing, Munich struck on the power play: Rieder deflected a pass from Hirose to give his team the lead (11th minute). After that, the special teams dominated the action. While Ingolstadt failed to capitalize on its first power play and was repeatedly denied by Simon Wolf, DeSousa extended the lead to 2-0 with a one-timer on the power play (18th minute). A third goal seemed imminent, but it didn’t come before the break.
The special teams were also heavily tested in the second period. First, Munich withstood another Panther power play, before their own power-play units took the ice for nearly six minutes shortly afterward (starting at the 25th minute)—this time, however, without success. The Red Bulls continued to play with discipline in their own zone, yet Ingolstadt now also created good opportunities. Austen Keating had the best chance, narrowly missing the net on a counterattack. Wolf stopped all other shots, keeping a clean sheet in the second period as well. The teams headed to the locker room without any further goals.
The first goal of the final period came after just 29 seconds: McKenna converted a give-and-go with Dillon Heatherington to make it 3-0. Ingolstadt, however, had the perfect response. Keating cut the lead on the power play (45th minute)—and thus kicked off a period of pressure from the Panthers. The Red Bulls were now forced to play defense, but continued to allow few clear chances and even landed a few stings of their own. One of them led to the 4-1: Kastner capitalized on a spectacular assist from Philipp Krening (52nd). With six minutes left in the period, ERC coach Mark French went all-in with a sixth skater. Seconds later, Rieder scored into an empty net to make it 5-1 (55th) – sealing the deal. Hirose scored the final goal of the game, making it 6-1, during a five-minute power play (57th).

Simon Wolf: “It was an important win. We’ve regained home-ice advantage. Over the past few days, we’ve watched a lot of video to correct our mistakes—and it paid off: We didn’t allow any turnovers today, and I actually always had a clear view. We wanted to play 60 minutes of good hockey. We succeeded.”
