Thursday, 20. March 2025 | DEL quarterfinal 2: voices and statistics from Mannheim against Red Bull München
“One of our best games of the season": Red Bulls set an example before the third quarter-finalVote and Stats of the second quarter-final// PLAYOFFS - LATEST NEWSThe Red Bulls equalized in the best-of-seven series against Mannheim with a 5-2 win at SAP Garden, which was as heated as it was spectacular. The quarter-final, which may well go on for a long time, is now picking up speed. The voices and stats.Pierre Allard (assistant coach, EHC Red Bull München): “It was very important for us to put in a good performance at home. We're especially pleased with the second period. We won a lot of the puck through our forechecking. We'll now prepare for game three. It's now 1-1 and we're anticipating a long series.”
Maximilian Kastner (forward, EHC Red Bull München): “It was a hard-fought game. Mannheim pushed at the end, so my goal on the penalty kill was important in this phase. I only realized that Mathias (Niederberger, goalkeeper) had to leave the ice when the guys told me. But we have strong goalkeepers we can rely on. Our job is to clean up in front of them – and we did that well today.”
Markus Eisenschmid (forward, EHC Red Bull München): ”In the playoffs, it's important to set an example. We're super happy today. We wanted to go harder for the goal and create more quality shots than in game 1. We did that very well. I think it was one of our best games of the season."
Evan Fitzpatrick (goalie, EHC Red Bull München) said: ”You don't really expect to come into a game in that situation. The guys worked really hard and made it easy for me. Mathias made some big saves before I came into the game. We deserved to win today and that's all that matters.”
Quarter-final 2 | Highlights: EHC Red Bull München vs. Adler Mannheim (19/03/2025)
// PLAYOFF-HIGHLIGHTS
Dallas Eakins (coach, Adler Mannheim): “The effort was there, the guys fought. What wasn't right was our execution. We'll look at that tomorrow. Nevertheless, it's going to be a long series. Both teams are on a par, both teams are strong at home. We hope that with our fans behind us, we'll be successful again on Friday.”
Tobias Fohrler (defender, Adler Mannheim): “We started well in the first period and played decently. After that, we gave München too much space and were too far away from the men. That allowed them to settle and create chances. We also allowed ourselves two or three mistakes that led to breakaways. If you don't take advantage of your power play situations, you won't win a game like this either.”
Marc Michaelis (forward, Adler Mannheim): “We've played four good periods in the two games, and the middle section was crucial today. We don't need to change much though. We'll analyze this game, look at how München played and then focus on the next game.”
