DEL preview, match day 19: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Nuremberg Ice Tigers
The return to league action after the Deutschland Cup break did not go as hoped for our team. After two consecutive wins without conceding a goal, coach Oliver David's team lost 1-4 to the Pinguins Bremerhaven on Thursday evening.
Nuremberg also returned with a defeat, with the Ice Tigers losing their home game against Eisbären Berlin 4-5 in a penalty shootout on Friday.
Now the two teams meet for the second time this season in a direct duel, for the first time at SAP Garden. The derby is already sold out – with a little luck, you might still find a ticket on our secondary market.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
“We need to come out of the locker room stronger”
The Red Bulls didn't get off to a good start in Bremerhaven, with the Penguins being more active and stronger in the first period. “We can forget about the first 20 minutes; we need to come out of the locker room stronger,” emphasized Maxi Kastner.
Our boys did improve in the second period, and after defender Fabio Wagner scored his first goal in a Munich jersey, it looked like they might even equalize on the power play. However, the turning point came when Bremerhaven scored to make it 3-1 immediately after the Red Bulls missed their power play goal.
“That took the wind out of our sails,” said our number 93. Now the Red Bulls want to pick up speed again against Nuremberg. Initially, however, without Tobi Rieder and Chris DeSousa, who will both be out for at least two weeks. Brady Ferguson, on the other hand, returns to the line-up after serving a four-game suspension.
Winning streak at SAP Garden
And most recently, there was nothing to be gained for opponents at SAP Garden, as the four-time German champions have won all four of their last four home games and earned the maximum twelve points.
We've also already bagged three points against Nuremberg this season. On October 9, we secured a hard-fought 3-2 away win at the Ice Tigers.

Key players out
Our upcoming opponent is currently struggling with a number of injuries. Among others, defender Constantin Braun is out, as is the forward trio of Cole Maier, Will Graber, and Roman Kechter. It is still unclear whether our former goalkeeper Evan Fitzpatrick will return to the squad.
But the team led by head coach Mitch O'Keefe, who recently extended his contract until 2028, has proven that it can perform well despite the absence of key players. For example, the eleventh-placed team won 4-2 at Adler Mannheim before the break.
Top line featuring Barratt, McFalls, and Heigl
Due to Fitzpatrick's injury, a second former Munich player has come to the fore in recent weeks. Goalie Niklas Treutle secured several victories with strong saves.
In addition, top scorer Evan Barratt is right on target with 22 points, while Samuel Dove-McFalls has already surpassed his previous year's tally of eight goals with nine so far. The same applies to Thomas Heigl (14 points), the youngster who previously played for the Red Bulls. The trio currently forms Nuremberg's first line of attack. Also noteworthy is forward Brett Murray. The 27-year-old Canadian, who joined the team from the AHL in mid-October, is a real asset and always good for dangerous scoring opportunities.
