DEL preview, match day 25: EHC Red Bull Munich welcomes ERC Ingolstadt
And the signs are definitely there for an exciting evening of ice hockey. Both teams are among the strongest in the PENNY DEL. Our boys have won seven of their last ten games, while Ingolstadt has won its last eleven games in a row.
At home, the Red Bulls are currently on a six-game winning streak, and they are aiming for their seventh home win against the Schanzer. This would allow head coach Oliver David's team to continue their current winning streak and end the Panthers' run. And that is precisely the goal.
Parking information
Note to all visitors to the SAP Garden on Friday evening: Due to a parallel event in the Olympic Park, we recommend traveling by public transportation, as the parking garage is expected to be busier than usual.
Why things are going so well at SAP Garden
After the last few weeks, the Red Bulls are going into the derby feeling confident. “The main reason for our run at home is that we have almost always played consistently for 60 minutes in recent games. We've also always gotten off to a good start,” said former Ingolstadt player Fabio Wagner ahead of the game.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
In our last four home games, we scored the first goal of the match and took the lead. “That will also be important against Ingolstadt,” said our defender. However, we will have to do so without our top scorer. Tobias Rieder (nine goals) will be out for at least three weeks with a lower-body injury. Mathias Niederberger and Markus Eisenschmid (both lower body) will also be out for several weeks – Phillip Sinn and Chris DeSousa (both upper body) were at least on the ice for training on Thursday, but their availability remains uncertain for the time being.
An offensive fireworks display
Against the ERC, in addition to our own finishing skills, it will be particularly important to stop their dangerous offense. The Panthers' forwards have already scored 107 goals, which is more than four goals per game. This makes Ingolstadt the absolute powerhouse of the PENNY DEL.
The attack is led by Riley Barber (34 points). The summer signing is the league's top scorer with 20 goals, and Myles Powell (31 points) is also difficult to shut down. Then there's Kenny Agostino (27 points), who has scored in every game recently. Alex Breton is also continuing his outstanding form from last season. The offensive-minded defenseman already has seven goals and 17 assists, better than any other defenseman.
“Close to our opponents”
So how do we stop the ERC offensive? “We have to stay close to our opponents and not give them any time or space,” Wagner emphasizes.

The derby against ERC Ingolstadt in pictures
Frölunda HC showed how this can be done on Tuesday. The top Swedish team won the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal 3-1 in Ingolstadt, allowing the Danube city team only twelve shots on goal.
Ingolstadt club record continues
In the PENNY DEL, however, coach Mark French's team has not lost since October 23. With a 5-2 home win against Eisbären Berlin just over a week ago, ERC set a new club record with its ninth consecutive victory and simultaneously took the lead in the standings. Since then, two more victories have been added. This means that the Ingolstadt team has never been in such good form.
In any case, the Red Bulls are eager for the top match. “We want to play as a unit again and be compact defensively. But we also have to move the puck well and get it into the opponent's third,” says our number 55. That's how the points should stay at the SAP Garden.
