DEL preview, match day 38: Red Bull München visits the Straubing Tigers
At the Eisstadion am Pulverturm, our team wants to secure points again in the race for the top places after it was not enough against Berlin (2:3). "We played a really good first period, but didn't reward ourselves - unlike Berlin in the second period," said coach Oliver David at the press conference.
The way the Red Bulls reacted to the deficit earned the coach's respect: "It was great that we didn't let ourselves down even after conceding the third goal. Unfortunately, the final goal came a little too late." Nevertheless, the team showed that its morale is intact.
David praises trio of returnees
Three players were emblematic of this: Markus Eisenschmid, Adam Brooks and Chris DeSousa. The trio had recently returned to the squad after injuries and immediately took on responsibility. "Especially in January, when everything is so tight, it's not easy to come back and make such a big impact straight away," said David, praising the trio. He promised: "We'll keep going." Next stop: Eisstadion am Pulverturm.

Straubing picks up speed again
Straubing has been back on track since mid-December after a slight dip. The Tigers have won nine of their last eleven games - most recently against Ingolstadt (6:3) and Mannheim (4:1). Coach Craig Woodcroft's team has thus made a real statement. The Tigers, who have already been top of the table this season, have climbed back up to second place.
Haukeland as back-up, Brandt with power from the blue line
Goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland is one of the key players. In his first season with the Tigers, the former Munich native has a save percentage of 91.2 percent. The Norwegian impresses with his consistency and calmness.
Marcel Brandt is also one of the DEL's strongest offensive defensemen this season. The defenseman has scored 14 goals, five of them in the power play. His hard slap shot is particularly well known throughout the league: With 167.2 km/h, Brandt currently ranks third in the DEL.
Halloran leads Tigers offense
Nicholas Halloran stands out among the forwards. The US-American leads the internal scorer list with 41 points - ten of which he has collected in his last four appearances. And that's not all: at 37.7 km/h, the technically strong and dynamic forward is one of the fastest players in this DEL season.

Red Bulls are happy about great support
The Tigers are particularly strong at the Eisstadion am Pulverturm. So far, they have picked up ten more points there than away from home. The Red Bulls know the Tigers' home strength. Our boys have been beaten five times in their last six home games. Including the 2:6 defeat this season.
This time we want to do better - with great support from home behind us: Well over 300 Munich fans will arrive with a fan ship and give everything for our team from 7:30 pm.
