DEL preview, match day 42: EHC Red Bull München welcomes Pinguins Bremerhaven

Revenge in front of a full house: Red Bulls welcome Bremerhaven// DEL - PREVIEWOn Friday evening, the Red Bulls welcome the Pinguins Bremerhaven to Oberwiesenfeld. Our last home game went to the visitors, so we're now looking for revenge at SAP Garden. The opening face-off is at 7:30 p.m. (live on our blog).
The Red Bulls are one of the strongest home teams this season. Only Cologne and Ingolstadt have earned more points in front of their own fans. We want to build on our strong overall record against Bremerhaven after losing 3-4 to the Pinguins in our home opener this season.
Once again, coach Oliver David's boys can count on your support – the SAP Garden is sold out for the twelfth time this season.
Red Bulls show character
Last weekend, we started with a home win against Dresden. The 3-1 victory against the promoted team was followed two days later by a narrow 4-5 defeat in Nuremberg. Our guys showed strong morale there, equalizing a three-goal deficit – but ultimately just missed out on a point.

Bremerhaven difficult to predict
The Pinguins Bremerhaven go into the 42nd match day in sixth place. Coach Alexander Sulzer's team lost their last three games, but before that they won six in a row. The Pinguins are difficult to predict. They have shown what they are capable of with two wins in the three games against our boys so far.
Beware of Roßmy
Bennet Roßmy played a major role in both victories. The 22-year-old forward has already been involved in 23 goals this season. He was in top form, especially against the Red Bulls. Roßmy scored the decisive goal for the Pinguins in both of Bremerhaven's victories. He has scored a total of three goals against us this season.
Gudlevskis' comeback is getting closer
The Penguins have an absolute top goalie in Kristers Gudlevskis, but the Latvian has not played a DEL game since mid-October due to injury. Nevertheless, he is in the Latvian national squad for the upcoming Olympic Games – and a comeback is on the cards. Gudlevskis has already completed his first training sessions.

Thanks in part to the two-time DEL Goalkeeper of the Year, Bremerhaven had the best defense in the league in the last two regular seasons, but this season Bremerhaven is in the middle of the pack in terms of goals against. Leon Hungerecker and Julius Hudacek, who was signed later in the season, have save percentages well below that of their colleague.
Jeglic and Verlic are the power play anchors
From a purely statistical point of view, no Pinguins player has really stood out this season. The two top point scorers, Ziga Jeglic and Jan Urbas (29 points each), are only in the top 40 of the DEL scoring list. However, four players from the North German team are in the top 18 of the best power play point scorers.

Jeglic tops the internal list, scoring 14 of his 29 points on power plays – most of them via assists. His compatriot Miha Verlic (eight power play goals) is even the second-best power play scorer in the league. Urbas and Akito Hirose are also key players in power plays.
Passing machines from the Hirose family
Curiously, the best assist providers in Bremerhaven and Munich both have the surname Hirose. Penguins defenseman Akito has 24 assists, while his brother Taro leads both our scoring list (43 points) and the assist list (34 assists). Now it's time for another brotherly duel.
Bild Hirose Brüder
Brothers in the DEL: Akito Hirose has been playing in Bremerhaven since the end of September.
For Taro and the Red Bulls, it's also about ending a streak: we haven't won two games in a row against the Penguins in over two years. That should be history on Friday.
